Do you prefer playing 3D otome games or 2D ones?

defo 2D, I don't like when they are too real cause it ruins the 'fantasy' elements for me.. I prefer to go for fantasy/historical themed otome games too.. I rarely played the daily life style otoge, it's triggering stress for me haha ( ͡• ͜ʖ ͡• )

I prefer 2D., while 3D can feel quite strange. Most 3D creations bear no resemblance to CG

3D is good, I wish there was an offline 3D otome game with simple gameplay like 2D otome games in the Switch version, also focusing on storytelling without a gacha system because my luck chances are bad.

Honestly, as long as the script is well-written and the character development is compelling, I don't necessarily have a hard preference for 3D or 2D.
Take Love and Deepspace's developer, Papergames, for example—their first otome title, Mr. Love: Queen's Choice, is a 2D game that is still running successfully today with a huge player base. In the grand scheme of things, the quantity and variety of otome games are still quite limited. PC otomes are basically visual novels, while mobile ones center on gacha mechanics with fairly limited gameplay.
In that sense, the combat system in LADS was a genuine innovation. Similarly, Silent Whisper (as mentioned by the OP) attempting an open-world approach is something I find really encouraging. I want to see more possibilities for otome and joseimuse games, whether they are in 2D or 3D.
(Actually, I think an otome game with the art style of Genshin Impact or Arknights: Endfield would be amazing. Since HoYoverse already makes otome games, why hasn't there been an otome-focused "2.5D/3D anime style" RPG yet? Hehe.)

I prefer 2D. in 3D some gestures still look awkward or off, plus it makes game size wayyy too big and requirements for specs only increase

I definitely prefer 2D otome games!
2D sprites and CGs feel more expressive and emotional to me, especially during romantic or dramatic moments.
3D can sometimes look stiff or uncanny, and it takes away that "illustration" charm that drew me into otome games in the first place

I've never actually played a 3D otome game, but following the pages of such games online, I can't deny that 3D games attract much more attention than 2D ones. I think both have their appeal, but I'm a little more inclined towards 3D since my ever-present desire to romance the guys from Final Fantasy speaks volumes, and the character models are the closest thing to that haha

Exactly. I really like it when a game have focuses more on unique lore storyline and good character development. Thou i didnt know well about Silent Whispers, but i decided to give a chance to play the game. I'm just hoping the story and overall concept is different enough from Love and Deepspace.

I prefer 2D. Not a big fan of realistic 3D styles, I really enjoy having a variety of 2D artstyles with a more anime aesthetic.

I'm in the 2D gang here as well. I really like 3D when it's stylized (I'm a huuuuuge sucker for those indie horror games with a retro 3D art direction, for example), but super realistic 3D just looks kind of boring to me, and unfortunately LADS kinda falls into that category for me.
That being said, I wouldn't mind giving a try to a full 3D otome game if they went for a JRPG-like anime-style art direction.

I've played some 3D titles in the past, but I'm biased towards 2D art. Since I play mostly visual novels, I think I enjoy the composition of 2D CGs better than 3D ones. I also think some 3D games can look a bit uncanny sometimes lol
I also think that right now you see more intricate designs in 2D titles, as most 3D ones are developed for mobile games and have to account for performance
That doesn't mean I think 3D games are bad though, I'm open to trying new ones with interesting visual styles. Since there's not many 3D otome titles now, we don't know how their style will develop in the future, so I may end up being surprised by them in the coming years

Most of my favorite characters are in 2D, and I'm still not really used to 3D yet, so I think I prefer 2D games =) Maybe I just got too attached to 2D art over the years

I, as many others, prefer 2D games. I love different artstyles and creative decisions that are much harder to achieve even with animefied 3D, even the kind of wonky anatomy like that in, idk, Amnesia - 3D is most often polished to the point of losing this charm... And realistic 3D usually unsettles me, honestly, I don't want to look at lifelike guys with uncanny detailed hands (´• ω •`) 2D men are 2D men.....!!!!!!! That's the point!!!!!

I prefer 2d over 3d I dont think its liking one over the other. Its just im so used to 2d seeing 3d is jarring

Whether it's 2D or 3D, I'd like to see a variety of artistic styles.
That said, I do wonder if it's really necessary to render things like peach fuzz or skin blemishes in 3D. The closer it gets to reality, the more jarring it feels.
In 3D movies with sexual content, I can't help but wonder how the motion-capture actors are performing those scenes. The same goes for Live2D.
