Are there any co-purchase groups for otome CDs or BLCDs?
Or is anyone interested in joining one?

I live in Japan, so shipping costs wouldn't be too high.

Additional note:
I've created a private Discord server. If you'd like to join, please send me a DM with your Discord ID.

I created a spreadsheet summarizing the overview of the group.
We're just about to start the co-purchase activities, so the item list is still quite small, but if you're interested, please feel free to join!

Yes, Normally store or pre-order bonuses.

In the case of drama CDs, there are usually only about two 特典, but with otome games it feels like a lot of different stores each have their own exclusive extras. It seems like collecting them would be both fun and a bit overwhelming.

It can be quite expensive. Some of the games tokutens I collected cost me near 2000 yen each.

Just the bonus items can cost around 2000 yen!? That's expensive.
I used to collect manga bonuses too, and even though manga is cheaper than games, if you try to complete all store bonuses it ends up costing several times more. Before I knew it, I was spending enough to just buy the game itself. lol

We have a co-purchase group that buys games c: mostly japanese games too so that could save you money if you normally pre-order a lot.

Yeah, I saw the thread! I don't actually play games—I mostly stick to manga and drama CDs. That's why I made this thread, hoping there might be co-purchase group for drama CDs too, similar to games.

Hmm it might be wise to maybe set up a wallet that you can track that people can donate funds into? I think @Beannie collects a lot of cds too

Yes, I do have PayPal and Ko-fi accounts, but would that be enough?
How does it work in the co-purchase group that buys games? If you don't mind, I'd like to use it as a reference.

Thank you for introducing me to someone who is interested in CDs!
Oh, wait—I might know them. It's the same name as someone I know from a Discord server.

I would love a co-purchase group for drama CDs, albeit I'm only interested in all-ages otome CDs. :'D
I love collecting game 特典 CDs and booklets too (albeit I usually get them secondhand from Surugaya cause it's way cheaper, but the proxy + shipping fees can stack up, so it'd be really cool to have someone from JP to help because that'd shave off the proxy + shipping fees).

Wow, absolutely, I'd love to!
I think it'd be great if we could gather CDs based on everyone's preferences.
Do you want to collect the physical CDs and booklets themselves? If just ripped or scanned data is enough, I might be able to help—I already do that for some friends overseas.
However, my place is small, so I don't have space to store items for you. That means it would be difficult to hold onto things and ship them all together later once they've accumulated.

Oh wow, that's super kind of you to offer. I really appreciate it so thank you! Ripped and scanned data would be sufficient for me (not sure about others, but on that note, for niche items that no one else cares about, I don't mind covering the full cost for items I'm interested in).

And perhaps after the ripping/scanning, you could also resell the physical items to secondhand shops to recoup some of the cost, and keep that toward the CD funds for CDs you're interested in as a token of gratitude for helping with the purchasing, shipping, ripping, scanning, etc. ☺️

Yeah, in that case it's the same method I'm already using, so we can start anytime. ✨
If you don't need to wait for others and there's something you want, just send me the product URL via DM.
I really appreciate that—thank you for the lovely suggestion! You might not be interested, but I'll share the CDs I buy with that money with you as well.

This is a lovely idea! I'm definitely interested in a co-purchase group too! Proxy/shipping/import costs are the bane of my existence. (੭ ;´ ⌂ `;)੭ It felt more okay when it was a big order so the cost is spread over each item, but I haven't been buying a lot lately and when that single 3k yen CD turns into 6k I'm a whole lot less tempted to buy it. 🙃
I agree with icterine! The ripped/scanned data would be more than enough for me, and I'd be more than willing to pay the full cost for items no one else cares about as well.

I know international shipping can be really expensive, but when the price ends up doubling, it does become hard to go for it.
In that case, I can help on my side, so please feel free to rely on me.
By the way, what kind of things do you collect?
Let's discuss the details via DM.

Hiii, that's me~ the same Beannie haha. I think I have already mentioned it, but yeah, I would def would like to join the co-purchase! Shipping fees are atrocious, and I would rather buy more CDs, "prone to get lost media status", to be bought and shared. For now, I am focused on otome all-ages drama CDs.

As for method, the best one for me is gift cards, but Ko-Fi is a great alternative! (I am not a big fan of PayPal. I have already bought some of the Rejet's one, so I can make a simple list of what I have (I intend to share these with ya, but I am a slow uploader lmao)

100 % agree. I have come across CDs that cost like 400 yen, but for me, it was an extra 1000-1500 yen per CD for fees :alice_fall:

I'm interested in joining! My main interest is character songs/cds and soundtracks. I try to buy and rip the CDs I have whenever is possible, but living in the other side of world means I pay 8k yen as shipping fee for a package of 2kg 💀 And let's not talk about import fees... because it's 100% over the package value here 💀

Btw I have some cds with me I still need to share here (Trouble Magia, Battlefield Waltz, list goes on...) but I'm pretending they don't exist because I'm too lazy to fix the tags for the ripped tracks right now 😂

Once something more formal has been created I can pin it as a thread. Please look at the co purchase group for structure :)

Some helpful requirements
  • AN excel sheet to show purchased items and donators
  • Instructions to how to donate funds to you.
  • Items included in upload.

I would be interested in joining! I often buy merch from Japan so having a co-purchase group would be great. Also this thread opened to me the chance to also join the BL co-purchase group (I didn't know we had one). Once the thread is made I'll be looking forward to donating if possible :)

So glad to see so many people interested! 👏🏻

Perhaps everyone who is interested could contact the OP with their Discord ID, and we could set up and join a dedicated Discord server (similar to the one shown in the screenshot?) for this co-purchase project.

* This is just a suggestion, so please feel free to ignore it. However, if handling all the messages becomes overwhelming for the OP, I'd be happy to help out with the server if needed. Of course, the OP's preference comes first. If this arrangement works, interested participants could DM both of us, so whoever is available can help add people to the server.

We could also agree on a few details in advance in the Discord, such as:

— If those contributing funds toward a specific CD/file are not comfortable with wider sharing, the files could instead be shared privately via DM only among participants. On the other hand, if those covering the full cost do not mind broader sharing, the files could simply be shared directly in the Discord group's related thread.
— Whether the Excel tracking sheet should be jointly maintained by a few volunteers to reduce the burden on the OP, or if the OP would prefer to manage it alone for a cleaner and more organized process.
— How payments and file sharing will be handled.

Looking forward to this project! :)
