Itch.Io Demo Space Is The Patreon R18 Never-Evers Of The Joseimuke Space. It's Like Fast Food; Quick, Cheap And Unsatisfactory. Imagine Going To A Food Plaza And All That Is There Is Just Stands With Just Taste Testing, You Are Going Through A Market Of Potential Man VNs.

I Really Feel Like The VN Devs There Don't Know When To Just Cut Their Story Short And Have A Nice Small Game. They Keep Wanting To Make More Of Full Fledged Game When The Hook Of Their Story Can't Support That Length. It's Like When A Manga With A Gimmick Goes On For To Long It Ends Up Being The Joke It Was Making With No Irony. I Can Only Count On My Hands The Amount Of Times A Demo Got To Be A Finished Game.

Tagging Is A Big Problem, At Least For Me. Every Time I Search On The Otome Category Without The Female Protagonist Tag & Find Something I Like, I See The Words "Chooseable Pronouns". That's Not An Otome Game, That's An Amare/Dating Sim. I Got No Problem With The Option Of Choosing Your Gender In Romance Games, But I Know I Am Not Going To Feel Like I'm Acknowledged As A Woman Even Though I chose Female. Feel Like I Am Playing A Gacha Game Where I Know They Just Tacked On A FMC As A Skin On The MMC, Because They Want To Cheaply Pander To Girls.

I Got None Of These Problems On Novelgames, Freem & Mugen. People Properly Tag If The Game Is Otome, Bl, GL Or Have Selectable Gender. It Really Sucks For Me When I See The Otome Jams Accept Games That Don't Fit The Definition, When GL & BL Are More Strict On Fitting The Label. I Guess I Am An Otome Purist HaHaHa.

Anyways, Recomend Me Any Otome Games You Find On Itch Please!

Love to see the femdom recs haha, I think you'll love some of the routes in 'Tailor Tales'.

Though, I find that in Dating Sims with selectable genders, I actually find the opposite to be true in my experience - that I'm much less likely to be acknowleged as a guy if I choose to play as a male protagonist. And I mostly play as a guy for dysphoria reasons.
Say for example, I choose a male love interest, the dynamics between a femMC and the RO is the exact same as a maleMC and the RO, just difference in pronouns. Like, the male MC is just put into the typical role of a woman in a relationship/in bed. And I hate it, lol.

It is basically a vampire romance with political intrigue and imperfect endings. There are a lot of choices you can make to influence the story. You can choose to join a vampire house (out of 3 I think) and there are special abilities distinct to each of the houses. There are also 3 LIs to choose from. Both the plot and the romance are written well, although the romance endings are usually bittersweet rather than a full on HEA.

It literally shot straight through my heart. The story got so deep and omg wow... AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IT!!!! Anyway it's REALLY GOODDDD.

Tried out Dark Parts and liked it! Tagged yandere

Also, for IF recs, I'm a shameless promoter of The Ballad of the Young Gods and Stygian Sun: Total Eclipse. Stygian Sun doesn't have a lot of romance yet (more so familial bonds), but I think it's truly written well. Made me cry lol. As for Ballad of the Young Gods, writing's a bit rough at the start (grammar mistakes, clunky sentence flow, etc.) but it definitely gets better. Way more romance than Stygian Sun, and the romance scenes are gooood.

For gender-locked female IF, there's The Lost Bride, which is a retelling of Dracula. You can romance Dracula, what's not to love?

Just before I forget, for an IF where gender matters, there's Season of Shadows. It's the Regency era, and you play as a young lord or lady debuting in their first Season. I'm pretty sure you get different scenes and ppl react differently to you depending on if you're male/female/gay/straight due to society having different attitudes.

For darker stuff, anything by locria. Read the content warnings lol

i strongly second Stygian Sun: Total Eclipse, which made me cry too LOL at one point i couldn't get past a sentence without tearing up
i tend to space out when i read fantasy (especially when they're explaining how the world works and whatnot) but i was super immersed and focused on every word playing this! all the characters feel distinct and fleshed out, including mc
the lovely dev plans to allow players romance any number/combination of ROs simultaneously & freely so i'm looking forward to when the romance does happen hehe
i want to time travel into the future to experience this game in its completion :crushed:

matter of fact, i second all of the mentioned interactive fiction games so far!

I want to share two fun IF games if that's okay.

First: Blood Moon.
This game is about werewolves living in a pack. You'll see love, friendships, and how they deal with witches, hunters, and vampires. You can choose to fight to be the pack leader, help a new leader, fight vampires or make peace with them, protect your home, or leave the pack to start over.

Next: Thicker than… (the sequel to Blood Moon)
This one starts right after Blood Moon. You play as a new vampire. You have to stay safe, protect your land, and get through hard times. You can play it alone, but some characters from the first game also appear.

My thoughts:
This sequel is much better than the first! You can start in 5 different ways (the first game only had 1). There are more characters to like, and you can even date more than one person. The writing is clearer now, and some parts feel like a movie. I really love this one.

ooooh, i have so many games i love a lot were already mentioned so i'll mention some of the others.

The Traded Groom
has mature content but a short and sweet game, i was really surprised how much i liked it.

Evernight
one of my favourite games ever with amazing art and really fleshed out characters and LIs

Hand in hand with destiny
such a nice and cute game with really good art

Anything by Steamberry Studio they are my favourite game developer, all their games are amazing with such good stories and art and huge worlds and lore

Oathbreaker 1& 2
also great world and characters and the art is very different in the 2nd game which i prefer to the old art style even though it's charming in it's own way. but the story and the number of LIs are amazing

The Lady's Choice
Is a historical romance game which i love and the art is so cute

since i already recommended watch the road back in *looks at post* january... time files... i thought it'd be nice to also bring some attention the same dev has another project and it looks quite promising. as of now the demo is still a work in progress so there isn't much i can say yet (that content warning list sure looks intriguing though..), but keep an eye on it if you think it's something you'd like! and let's anxiously wait for more. Together 🤝

Honestly there are so many great games on Itch.io, Some creators that I like are for example Larky labs, Miss Xero, the game Changeling and many more.

I adore itchio and the games but I'm honestly fearful of them being dropped. A few, I won't name, I've purchased in advance and they are still on their first update...2 years later.

i get exactly what you mean TT so many of my favs haven't been updated in years, which really makes me more apprehensive of incomplete vns now

It's a nightmare, I understand they are a small developer but it's ridiculous to not even update or say anything about thier games for ages. Atleast tell us when you're on haitus or cancelling it. 😭
