Do you watch the animes of otome games?

i actively avoid them because the ones i have seen have all pretty much been garbage. i dont know if there are actually any good anime that are based on visual novels, not even just otome. maybe just higurashi?

I would never watch an anime of an otome game instead of playing unless it's a live service/gacha game (which is to say, I watched the MLQC anime since I was on Tears of Themis and wasn't going to play more than one gacha otome at a time).

I also do sometimes watch the anime as a followup to something I've already played, because whether it's good or bad, it's interesting to see a new interpretation of the source material. When do they reveal this or that, how do they handle the branching routes if at all (the Amnesia anime was interesting for this). And of course, who did they pick to voice the MC!

Not to mention, sometimes if it's been a while since I read, the animes are a nice way to remind myself of characters I enjoyed, like seeing distant family at a gathering once every few years.

i watched some of otome anime, what i like the best so far is My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! from story and character.

I watched the Diabolik Lovers anime and I actually liked it. It was a good way to get a sense of each character's general personality before diving into the game.

Not really, the only one I watched was Amnesia, I feel like a lot of these anime adaptations of otome games don't do it justice and lacks the certain charms they had in the games. I mean it is such an honor to even see my faves animated! But it also feels lackluster at times.

no, not really. i don't think there is a way for a good adaptation of any VN because every route matters for understanging the history, lore, charachters and story in general. and you just can't transfer it in an anime format

Usually I've already played the game before an anime is even released, most of the times they are just meh and doesn't really do the otomes justice but a lot of times they can be confusing esp for those who don't know the otome, a great example of this imo is Amnesia as it's really confusing since per episode something new is going on and there's really no explanation for it.

no lol, even if I absolutely adored the otome I don't go looking for the anime (if it has one) since they tend to leave out many parts from the game.

I think having anime adaptations, even bad quality ones, is good for untranslated games to get people to understand the story minimally and try to play even if they don't speak japanese (my fav live service mobile otome is 夢王国と眠れる100人の王子様) but yeah they always lack plot, especially for routes that aren't the main one (I never like the "main" LI)
I do want to watch Hakuouki since I don't know if I'll ever play the games, there's so many of them I'm overwhelmed ToT

I tend not to. Mainly because my fave LIs from games aren't usually the poster boy, so if the anime has an ending with a set LI who isn't my fave, I feel sad lol

I watch every romance genre anime with female mc. Anime based on otome games ends up good only, when they use one route as base instead of jumping from one guy to another and mc end up with harem or alone.

No. They animation is not that good compared to the usual anime production. Adapted plot is also worse than playing the game myself

I don't because they are always a hit or miss to me, not in betweens. I'm so scared haha I generally avoid most vns anime adaptations because of that, I still have bad memories from Dramatical Murder, never again 😅

No, I don't see the point since I've got the experience with the story in the game already. Beside the story is just being re told again only it moves then it gets adaptive poorly too.

I've watched several otome animes, I always watch the ones from the games I've played and the ones I've watched that I haven't played definitely made me interested in playing. The games themselves are usually better than the anime but I'll take having the anime over not having it, there are a good handful that I've enjoyed ^^ I did enjoy watching the utapri animes and la corda ones.

I don't really watch otome game anime that often. The storylines can feel pretty messy sometimes, and they usually don't focus on the route I like. So I'd rather just play the game myself. The only one I've actually finished is Ouran Koukou Host Club — that's the only otome game anime I've watched all the way through.:lapi_peaceful:

My introduction to otome as a genre was actually the anime adaptations!

Watching the first season of Utapri's anime as a wee tween definitely changed something about my brain chemistry (it at least had such an impact that whenever I hear Kishow in anything I immediately lock in like I'm about to hear life-changing lines).

I also really loved Kamigami no Asobi's anime and was so invested in it, it makes me feel nostalgic thinking about it.

Ironically, I still haven't played either the Utapri games or Kamigami no Asobi. I remember getting carried away a lot by studies, so around the time I could have tried playing the games myself, it was easier to just play a gacha game and call it a day. I guess it's never too late to actually play them now!

Anime adaptations of otome games tend to be awful and/or cut out a lot of important things, so I don't really watch them lol. Actually, I don't like to watch anime adapations of video games in general (unless it's not really an adaptation and does something new to the game world like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) tbh

I sometimes do! I have to really like all the cast (or have a big favorite character) to really want to watch it otherwise I might watch the anime if I'm feeling up to it.

I very like watching the animes of otome games!!
Angelique series and Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series let me know otome games.
