This version has been in the works for the past 2 years. There may still be plenty of bugs.

What has changed:

  • Improved Interface: it probably looks better than before. I hope? No you cannot have the old theme back. We are now at Harmony3.

  • Improved Search: Fixed most of the old search issues. Live results now come with thumbnails and hover effects.

  • Improved pagination: now faster and less annoying, no promise though.

  • Improved Hide & Encrypted Link Containers: Give it a try, but note that only Recognized Members and up can use DLC File Container feature.

  • Masonry Thread View: The Download area now features a Masonry view, which has been a popular request dating back to v1.0. You can freely switch back to List View.
    Fair warning: if this blows through too much server money, I'll have to disable it. Money is tight these days, and nobody donates to our cause anyway.

  • Instant Messaging (Chat Threads): Think Discord sucks? Try out Chat Threads. They are now available in MMD discussion and sharing. You will either love it or hate it, but the MMD community will be our lab mice for this test. No promises on how good this is—it might be buggy, but we gotta give it a shot, you know?
    • Note: Only Staff can create Chat Threads. Any existing thread can be converted into a Chat Thread, but it needs to be reasonably active first.
  • Reworked Thread Images & Homepage: Thread Thumbnails are now called Thread Images. I reworked the widgets and the Home Page so things look busier (or maybe I'm just pretending this isn't a dead place).

  • Reworked Promotions & Ranks: The system will actually reward you for your contributions now, powered by AI slops. No worries, I use in house LLM model, nothing will be sent to Palantir and Co. And only your public message. I'm not interested in whatever you do because I made 0 money from your data. This is pretty much a charity.

  • Faster Approvals: The approval process won't take 2 months anymore—unless you are a spammer, in which case it takes exactly 2 seconds.

  • Otome Updates: The Otome section has been divided into more partitions, and Special Members will receive special perks.

  • And other >o9k backend improvement and quality of life like supporting passkeys and a proper REST API, as well as OAUTH server for "Login via Anime-Sharing"

  • Regretably, the Trophy system didn't make it this time, another time then?

Hello, I love the update but um could you place the direct messaging and notifications a bit more in a visible spot like before? Some of the links are dead and I use these to request to uploaders/contributers and it's easier for us or them to miss rather than help rn.

Hey, there will be a notification on your username, you won't miss that, you can click on your username and you will see the menu you need

It would be difficult to tell which is a message and which is a thread notification, from a cursory glance, and we do have friends, we wish to respond to first.
(Sorry I am speaking this from an introvert perspective)

*At least for dms it would be nice since reddit and most forums have it in a visible spot*
 
Sounds interesting! But what is new red title i have? I had only active and trusted member. Seems trusted change to Distinguished. But red one i can't even understand.

We are working to manage the forum a bit better so otome isnt under 'fetishes' lol.

hi im here with questions
1. notifications. when im on pc, i can see the red dot on the animesharing tab itself, but not anywhere else. example:

that makes it kinda hard to see if you even got a notification in the first place, particularly for dms. im scared of popups so i tend to turn them off immediately, so having at least some sort of a red dot on your avatar or something would be nice! because as introverted as i am, i dont wanna miss someones dm by like a month w
also, i dont know if its something i disabled by mistake, but now all my notifications from threads automatically get set as "read", even if ive never opened them. they used to be all unread unless you manually check them. now though it seems you need to manually set them to unread as opposed to how it previously was?

2. this is my personal pet peeve but the "recent posts" and "latest profile posts" tab seems to not be scrolling properly? as in, to even get it to moving, you need to scroll to the very bottom of the page, at least on pc. i dont know if its a feature though, but i thought i might as well mention it haha

oh now that i think about it, it seems like if your message is too large (like mine is right now), you cant scroll up and see the thread you are writing the message for. its just all you and your message, which makes visibility kinda.. limited? if it makes sense?

either way congrats on the update! i love my new shiny otome badge ehehehehe hehe

I stopped getting notifications for dms now as well as threads, your lucky it's working, mine isn't now.

oh i don't have even red dot.... So everytime i need click my name to see any notification. It took a while to find it ...

nvm this part remained unchanged BUT the difference between read and unread notifs is kinda,, hard to spot? at least in dark mode

I don't like having the gigantic previews down in the download area of the forum list, and I can't seem to find any way to hide or otherwise get rid of them.

I mean...what even is that supposed to be?

Did you use the preferences? I see the mansory view and list view option.

But for me that also appears broken like it's half and half for me in the dl area.

I had set it to list, but it seems like the DL area isn't responding to the settings.
...no, I don't think that has anything to do with List/Masonry setting. It's what happen before choosing a forum. That setting only take effect in thread listing of forums.

Sorry I'm unsure if you talk in tech langauge? But won't putting all those notifications together cause overload on the developer side of things as well as users? I know that the phone chrome on desktop view labels most threads as spam after a number has passed. (It has been a problem since ASF v2)

I also read a dm and thread and it still gets marked unread/spam

I don't think I chose any forums....weird....I didn't even speak in some of them either.

Edited cuz I have to add more points.

I'd also like an option to hide these preview images...

The first reason is it clutters the screen. Maybe I'm growing old but I prefer the more compacted view before. If it's useful for others then it'd be great if we have an option to toggle it on or off.

The second reason is...I'm not always alone when I browse anime-sharing. I have always known we have 18+ content, it's normal, but getting flashed with 18+ images every time I scroll down the home page is a bit awkward when someone else could potentially see my screen, even more so when I didn't have to worry about such a thing before.


And I don't know what happened, but while I was typing this reply, the scrolling became broken. Idk how to describe it so here's a video:

Hello! I noticed I can't hide my files when I upload them under the reply/react feature anymore. Is this due to me being a low level? Or if not what option is this for me? Thank you! :)
