do you go for the sweet green flags who treat you right, or the red flags who make the plot interesting?

I personally lean more toward green flag characters who respect my boundaries and value my feelings. I just love it when they're genuinely kind!

Both green-flag and red-flag characters have their own charm. Green-flag characters make me feel cozy and happy, while red-flag characters make me feel amused and excited. For me, it's hard to choose between them.

Green flags obviously. I love the respectful types especially the ones who are distant in the beginning and become warm, loving and sweet later. I just can't get into red flags.

It really depends on the story. If it's a lighthearted story I prefer green flags, otherwise one or two red flags in a serious plot is pretty exciting.

Red flags all the way- I love yandere love interests so much!! There's just something so attractive about charas with questionable morals who are obsessively in love with the mc!!
That said there are times when I'm drawn to the occasional green flag too- esp if they're playful and sassy and/or a tsundere!

Yoo same. I love a well written red flag yandere characters. The devotion to the MC and the craziness of their stories/character is what really draws me to them.
Similarly though, a well written green flag character really makes my heart go awww whenever I go through their route. My favorites are usually whoever has the stronger storyline and chemistry with the MC regardless whatever flags they have.

You get it!! And right- the writing can really make or break a chara. Like even if a chara has all the traits I'm not normally attracted to- if their story's well written then I'll still end up swooning a little over them lol

Red flag. Even if I chose as i thought the green flag later he become red flag ^^; " I'm lucky" hah

Yesssss I agree with the others who say both. If they're well written as a green flag I fear I turn into a pile of goo. But if they're well written as a red flag.... I also turn into a pile of goo. Sometimes you've gotta satisfy your sweet tooth and sometimes you've got to enjoy some terrible debauchery.

Green Forest all the way.
For the red flag it's depend tho. If the 'red flag' is because he is so obsessed with MC to the point he would kill for MC, like the most yandere type, then I'm okay with that (Tho I don't want that kind person irl).
But if he's red flag because he is rude, aggressive and love to manipulate MC behind the reason that 'it's because he loves MC', eh that's bulls**t and I don't like that kind of people. Thankfully, I never found this people on the games, only found them in lots of manhwa with toxic ML lol

I think I usually end up on like.. Green Flags who have some small red flag moments, there are very few true 'REDFLAGS' that I enjoy.

For example of my fave greenflags:
  1. Scarecrow - Bustafellows - Legit very good boyfriend material, to the point that they
fight about not fighting because they both make each other too happy.
  2. Kei - 剣が君 Starts off as a big red flag, sort of rude and impatient. However he has very soft reasons, he wishes to protect his community and needs to return swiftly from the job he is on to protect someone. He does lots for those he loves.
  3. Tobari - c; vigilante justice with a soft side.

For me, it really depends on the character and tone of the story... But for the most part, I tend to go for green flag male leads!

In general? Red is my favorite color! I absolutely loooove yandere, menhera, 黒い, obsessive, 沼 characters in my fiction haha. I often feel less interested in something if I hear it's completely green. ^^; Not to say there aren't green flavors I enjoy, I just tend to specifically seek out the darker side of fiction where it's safe to indulge such things.

It depends on how well they are written, how good the chemistry is between them and the MC, and how relevant they are to the main plot. I personally tend to gravitate toward the red flags even when I don't mean to, lol. For example, in Slow Damage, I thought Towa was going to end up with a green flag and the LI ended up being a red flag in disguise, so you never know. But honestly, I prefer at least morally grey characters since those are the types of characters I find more interesting to interact with and, as OP has mentioned, they make the plot more interesting most of the time. I tend to find that sometimes green flag characters are more boring and have less to offer to the plot in general besides supporting the MC, which makes them less interesting for me. Maybe that's a generalization based on experience, but it is what it is.

I tend to like the red flags more for some odd reason, but at times I will prefer the green ml over the red ml, but that happens usually once in a blue moon LOL

I'm fine with both, but I think green flags pull me in more, because the nice, sweet dope is probably my favourite kind, and those types are almost always a green flag.

team both! I don't mind either of them as long as their chemistry with mc are interesting.

Green flags all the way! The comfort and sweetness in those types of stories are so tooth rotting it really makes me feel better like the world is not so bad.
I do enjoy red flags but I thinking about it, I specifically like the yandere that are the type to be kind to the heroine and maybe crazy in other aspects. Of course there is a difference in real life but with fiction definitely want to see the pairings happy no matter how crazy they are!

I love the green flag sweet boys who also have some red flags that pop up time to time.

Depends on the character and writing so I don't mind either, but I lean a bit more toward red flags

Depends on the plot and the writing. When too many bad things are happening to the MC, I might want to find some comfort in the green flag LI first but afterwards I'll be really curious to get into the red flag LI's route
