How important is the visual style of otome to you?

even if i don't like the visuals in the game i will give it a try, especially if the synopsis grab my attention. in the end i might grow to love the art style (i'm all about good plot and characters)

I'm also more story focus over visual. I have play some otome games where visuals are beautiful to be let down when it came to the story line. It was lack lustered and boring and it was like dragging a dead corpse across a FOOTBALL field!!! I got annoyed and rage quit it in the end lol. That and I don't like the comical otome games as much as well as then the plot for me gets lost. So far the one that I'm really LOVING now is Volontes. It has both visual and the story a little mysterious to me. Plus, there's a Tsundere ML that I'm looking forward to mess with.:akazukin_evillaugh:

I don't mind if the visuals aren't great; as long as the story and the music are good, I'm satisfied.

A lot tbh , it helps me to choose whether the game is worth it or nah

I'd say it factors about 60% in my decision to play it - but like other people said, the story is the deal-maker or breaker... I'll put up with a style I don't really like if the premise hooks me, and I'll drop something if it bores me despite the nice style

artstyle isn't super important to me so i just see it as a plus when i like the visuals. inconsistent artstyles will throw me out of a story unless the style change is made with purpose, however.

A lot 😬.... it makes up 100% of my decision to play it or not. I don't know why but I can't get into a game (of any sort, including otomes) if I don't like the art. Even if its synopsis sounds interesting, if I like the VAs or LIs background, it doesn't really hold my attention. At the same time, I'll also drop a game I can't get into the the story.

I tend to lean more towards an engaging story than art, but there are some otome games I've not wanted to play due to their art style. So it's pretty much "it depends" for me, too...xD

Visual style is a plus but sometimes the story makes or breaks the experience more! Though I do agree that if i vibe with the art I tend to enjoy it more and buy official merchandise.

Not much. In the end the plot decides everything whether I pick it up or drop it. There are games with pretty art and terrible writing anyway, I would drop it like hot potato

Normally, it doesn't matter much for me. I have even played games with extremely ugly art or no art at all and as long as the story is good I didn't care but the one thing I can't stand is the ones that are colored with watercolors. I don't know what it is about them, people seem to love them but to me it makes the games look like a hazy dream and I find that very distracting.

I never start or drop an otome based on visuals alone but it's nice to see the pretty CG art and interface

It'd be one of the main factors that pull my interest to the game for sure, but the plot and settings are more important to me.

If the art style isn't to my liking, it might just turn me off the game entirely. A style that fits my taste — especially the CGs and character sprites — is what really draws me in. Of course, the story and setting are also important. I'd say story and art are about fifty-fifty? To be honest, most of the games I play are ones where I really like the art — that's what keeps me going.:akazukin_tehee:

Visuals are definitely important! To me, asking that is basically like asking if I care whether a guy is good-looking or not when I date someone lol. Honestly, I don't really care how 'well-drawn' it is, but I do look at the art style

The art style of my favorite game is actually something I used to dislike before playing it. I always thought art style was a deal-breaker for me, but it turns out I hardly care about anything but the story.

its definitely important! but the story also important... if the story is way not to my liking, the chance i might not finish it are higher than the art not to my liking

visuals play a huge role for me, but i love a huge variety of styles. i recently played the first 3 volumes of hana awase and yura's art is very unique in a very good way, i absolutely love their style. though ultimately the story is king, i've played otomes with gorgeous art but burnt out super fast because i didn't care for the story

i do kinda avoid a lot of western otomes/amare because i don't like cartooney or semi-realistic styles, i grew up watching shoujo anime so i tend to gravitate to art styles that are similar

At least fifty percent, but that was just before I started playing. As the game progresses, the proportion of story and creativity will become increasingly significant. If it were just a game that looks good but isn't fun to play, I definitely wouldn't finish it.

It depends really. If they look completely off...then I might not get around to playing it. But if I read about a character and find them super interesting/likable I can ignore the art.

it's gotta be both both good story and also both good artwork because if it's none then I it's in my back burner other than that I like most of the time like a date with death is pretty good storyline and art wise but also as I was playing nine rip, I kind of gave up halfway once I was exposed to spoilers
