Route Order or The Heart Decides Order?

I used to save the best for last, but now I just dive into my favorite route first. I still save the spoiler-heavy characters for my final run, though.
 
I usually start with the character I hate the most and leave my fave for the end or else I might not finish the game lol, but if there is a recommended route order for spoiler reasons I'll follow it (for ex. in Virche my least favourites are Yves and Scien but I started with Mathis and Lucas who I do like more, Adolphe is alright)

Lately I look up the suggested route order for every otome game I play. The plot is more important, than my preferences!
 
I play the common route and see which one I like. I almost always end up liking the one LI that is locked behind other routes so I end up using a walkthrough to skip through all the other routes so I can get to him 🙊
 
I play whichever character that catches my eyes during the common route! After finishing said route, I sometimes would check for the best order and decides if I want to follow it or not
 
I always follow route orders! I want to experience the full story in an at least semi seamless way, so I defer to either the fandom or my favorite reviewer's (shoutout to OtomeKitten!) route order. I tend to ignore the dev's tho. When I was much younger and just getting into the VN scene, I didn't really care, but I didn't realize until much later when trying out a game I had dropped before how much it ruined the experience for me 😭

Example for me would be accidentally picking a route that has absolute shit writing where the rest is fine. It'd make me think "so the entire thing is shit then?" when it really was just that route. That's why I strongly prefer looking at reviews and the fandom's route ordering :)
 
I'm okay with spoilers, but I still want to go in blind for the first time and see where my instincts take me.
 
For me, I always disregard route order if I can help it. I let my heart lead the way, because it's way more fun for me. If I spend the entire game going through routes just to get to my favorite, it leaves me burnt out and then I lack the desire to try and continue the game. It's kind of why I haven't made it super far in Olympia Soiree, even though I want to.

Which is why locked routes are the bane of my existence ^^'.
 
i love to progress through the story bit by bit and usually follow recommended route orders
 
I usually follow my heart and play the routes in the order that interests me the most. When a character catches my attention, I want to learn more about them right away instead of saving them for later.
 
I start by my favourite route cause I rarely finish a game I just play the ones I am interested in
 
I go for my favorite one first (with a guide). And after that I'll use order.🙂‍↕️
