A manufacturer selling cleaning detergents and other products has launched its own original character and is currently releasing a small otome game.
Personally, I think it's a fun project and welcome it wholeheartedly, but what do you all think?

Also, if you know of any other projects like this, I'd be happy to share them here.

the only other example i can think of that kinda applies is nameless by cheritz which promoted crobidoll's BJDs ^^ and i personally REALLY adored nameless so much so that i started looking into ball jointed dolls myself !! i think personifying objects and giving them personalities and a design based off the products' characteristics can be a really fun way to introduce unique / out of the norm archetypes :D

the example above leans more into a comedic aspect but overall if they take it in a less silly way so that the story they present can be taken more seriously i think it can be a good marketing strategy (it'll work on me atleast lol)

It's really interesting. It seems more focused on the comedy side. But if stories stick to that type of concept and still give the characters solid development, I think I'd really like that kind of approach

You should definitely check out "I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin' Good Dating Simulator by KFC" it's a parody/ gimmick type game so it's not very serious and it became viral from popular youtubers playing it. I'm also really interested in the detergent company's otome project you mentioned I'd love to see how they're handling the story and tone. brand character games like that are mostly joke or gimmick types tho, I haven't seen any serious otome being made T-T

It's an interesting marketing and pr choice! Sometimes its even effective because its really eyecatching!

That's hilarious! As for caring, as long as it's got cute LIs, and has a funny or good story I don't mind. I've played weirder games. I wonder how much this actually increased sales though lol
