Have you ever used a gamepad to play VNs on PC?

Always a gamepad! I just prefer the feel of controllers.
Yeah, it's the same for me too, especially because I started playing games on consoles before playing games on PC.

Yup, I use a controller that's compatible with PCs and... unfortunately it's not wireless lmao but the cord is long enough that I can lie down on my bed or just. Walk in place while playing... that's how I've been getting most of my exercise these days haha.
I've been wanting to get a walking pad just to park it in front of my screen and walk while I play otome, seems like a solid way to get exercise! Haha

I always use a controller. I just like the feeling of pushing buttons. Only time I'll use keyboard+mouse if there is zero support for it.

i dont usually but only because the ui will sorta mess with me otherwise. i have issues with my hands so controllers are usually so much better for me but for vns it doesnt matter as much

Thats the kind I've been thinking about!
As lylophy mentioned, the 8BitDo Lite 2 has compatibility issues with Windows games. I looked into it and found that it's because it lacks X-Input support, so I'd recommend the 8BitDo Zero 2 instead.

Honestly I prefer using a controller in general for any game, if it doesn't have native controller support I'll use something like DualSenseX (If I'm using my playstation controller which I use 99% of the time)

For Switch games, there are dedicated controllers. For PC games, I don't necessarily connect a controller to play.

I don't use a gamepad unless I'm engaging in some wonderful emulation gaming or if the otome game has some other gameplay element (mainly action & strategy games) that make it impractical for me to play with just a keyboard and mouse.

the presence of a secondary gameplay element almost always makes me use a gamepad because I dislike playing with keyboard & mouse for most games outside of visual novels, which I usually consider a much more quiet, chill, and non-intensive experience, despite the presence of secondary gameplay elements.

I am using gamepad while playing otoges on emulator or if i play Black Butterfly. It's more comfortable this way

When I play on Switch or any handheld I use the gamepad of course, but for stuff on my PC I just use the Enter button. I like it more than clicking the mouse over and over since I read so fast. I have an actual mouse, and I imagine it would be even more of a pain using the touchpad.

every so often, it's really nice to just sit back for a bit without having my hand stay in one spot

I've been using a game controller to play otome games on my computer, and I'm using a wireless controller. It feels just as convenient as playing on a Switch.

No, I just use a keyboard and mouse. Sometimes I play it on my phone through Steam by tapping the screen, and that's it.

I use keyboard and mouse. There usually aren't lots of interactions in otome games so I do not notice any discomfort.

I usually play on the switch or on steam deck. I rarely play on PC and when I do I use a controller, more comfortable.

Using a mouse for too long makes my wrist and elbow sore.
That's why I love the comfort and stability of just holding a controller while playing.
The buttons are all close together, so everything is within easy reach—it's really convenient.

I don't have a gamepad, so keyboard and mouse it is when I'm playing on PC.

At least for VNs it's not too inconvenient since the controls are so simple, but I'd like to get a gamepad someday for other games with more elaborate gameplay, so I appreciate the recommendations given in this thread! :D
