Do you ever feel Otome fatigue or burnout?

Yes, sometimes, and since English isn't my first language, I need something relaxing in between.

Oh no - this was such a good game in my personal opinion; it's dark, the characters are interesting and the protagonist is a breath of fresh air. There is a lot of lore though which can feel overwhelming, maybe stop for a bit and continue after some time
I also felt this for virche ngl

it really is interesting (i like ceres a lot as well!), it's my fault bc i couldn't put it down and got hit by too many things at once :donefor: i think it could easily become one of my faves once i'm finished tho so i will return soon! thank you for the advice^^

Not particularly no. But then again I specifically take measures to avoid fatigue. Without counting gacha games; I tend to only play 1-2 rpgs/normal vns and 1 otome at the same time- splitting whatever gaming time I have between them. Easily keeps me from getting tired of any game and at the same time helps fight my ever growing backlog lol

a lot... I had the biggest burnout a few months ago. I did other hobbies while getting the all the games that came out to add to my backlog. I'm going through them now.

Lately, i am feeling otome burnout a lot. I can't find what to play despite having huge backlog. It's like i am trying to force myself to enjoy it. And it's not working at all. Even the router of LIs i am interested in are not able to keep me playing

Some otome games have such a long common route that I often get sleepy before I even make it to a character's route, and then I just don't feel like playing anymore.

yes, when the story isn't engaging enough i can get tired and quit for a while.

Honestly the burnout is real tho, so many otomes are releasing nowadays with a minimum of 3 routes and can go up to like 7 routes ,the long hours of playing and trying to get through each route is so tiring. That's why after finishing a route on a game i do another game so I dont feel that burntout

That happens. Being a gamer helps, cause other games let me have some rest from vns.)

Sadly I'm feeling it right now. I started learning Japanese to play otome games, during the beginner-intermediate phase, the more I played the more I learned so I was very excited, even when I wasn't interested in the LI or found the route boring, I would still fully complete the game to maximize learning. Maybe the rose-tinted effect wore off (?) so I lose interest quicker and don't find myself as excited as before. E.g. I'm procrastinating Over Requiemz atm (playing the 4th route out of 5), on paper the game is right up my alley and it's okay, but somehow my feet keep dragging. I really miss that feeling of being obsessed with otome game though... I'm just taking it easy and play when I feel like it, hopefully one day I can experience the intense passion again ^_^
Funnily enough, the last time I was obsessed with an otome game was in 2021 when Virche was released lol.

For sure I do! I tend to go through phases where I get really into things and then get massive burnout and don't touch whatever it was for awhile. This goes for otome games, regular games, books, and so on.

Yes. Big reason why I can't finish so many games or routes if they drag on without much happening. Great chance to switch to interactive fiction books / choice games and use imaginations or dabble in something else.

i did for a few years :')) no reason, i just thought my interests were changing... which is, untrue LOL i just needed a special game to hook me back into otomeges!

Yup, I usually take a months break or so and then I start another one, or I just go play a different VN that's not otome.

Yes, once I couldn't play otome for six months. There were too many cliches and I didn't want to play the new otome anymore. This usually happens if the plot doesn't seem interesting enough or you have to go through mandatory routines with characters you don't like.

Yes! To me, it often happens during a period of burnout because of university because of readings. If all I do in uni is read readings I wouldnt want to spend my free time reading. Especially if its a title I don't find interesting, ill end up dropping a title or spend years before I decide to continue it. If a common route is too long or dragging ill start feeling burnt out.

Yes. Especially when the plot is clichéd and completely lacks any highlights.

I do a lot. I sometimes go months without picking up a game then suddenly the urge comes back and I'm 8 hours into one.

It's more reading than anything as reading makes me tired which I can't always afford to do.
