Do VAs influence you to start an Otome?

Do you have any fave VAs that if you see in the cast of an otome, you'll immediately play/ add it to your backlog?

To me, VAs are soooo important to an otome game like they can truly make or break a character but honestly i have some faves that if i see in the cast i'll immediately play lmao to name a few it would be tetsuya kakihara, yuki kaji, nobuhiko okamoto , fukuyama jun, kimura ryouhei and soo many more.

wouldn't exactly make or break a character for me, but I would definitely start a game specifically for certain seiyuu. Midorikawa is the sole reason I'm eyeing sins of KALEIDO, otherwise I'm not into the art and I wasn't too big on eiT either. If old man Akira Ishida or SuzuKen ever decide to come back I will definitely play their games as well. A vn having your fav just hits different....

Sometimes! lol Tsuda wasn't even in the main cast for Piofiore but I moved it up the backlog list when I saw his name. Unfortunately playtime and cost are the finial determining factors 🫠

I was eyeing the game for Maeno!!

VAs definitely influence my game choices too! Since voice acting is such a huge part of the experience in visual novels, it is one of the first things I look at. I won't write down any specific names, but I find it really distracting when a VA's performance doesn't quite fit the character's image. If the voice and the art don't sync up well, it really breaks my concentration and makes it hard to stay immersed in the story.

I like a lot of VAs, but the only one who will 100% make me play a game is Shimazaki Nobunaga. Unfortunately, he doesn't voice otome games as often as I would like😔

a seiyuu fan here! so if i see one of my faves in the line-up, i'm definitely playing it :)

i really like tsugutsugu's, enojun's and isihikai's voice. lately, i've been loving gakuto kajiwara's! most especially his singing <3

I have fave seiyuus that are prolific in the otome industry like Furukawa Makoto, Sugita Tomokazu, and KENN (kinda), but if it's a seiyuu I like and don't see casted very often, like Itou Kent, Ootsuka Takeo, or Kawanishi Kengo, the game will def be on my radar just for that, even if it's just a minor role

Yes, VA are very important to my otome game enjoyment, and once I start liking a VA, I go through the VNDB and MAL rabbit holes to find more games and anime that he is in <3

Not at all for me! I generally play with the sound off, or if the sound is on, I'm going through the dialogue so fast that I can't really hear much of the voice acting anyway.
How do you manage to do that?! First time I've heard of someone playing VN with the sound off, I'm genuinely surprised. I can't do that at all.

I guess it's because I primarily play games in the room with other people, so if it's handheld, on my computer, or phone, I turn off the sound so as to not bug them! It started as a kid, not with otome games but just games in general like on my gameboy, and I guess it kinda just generalized to otome games too lol

The last time I saw Takahiro Sakurai's name, I immediately lost all interest in playing the game
Lol this is me with Terashima Takuma, but I wouldn't write off the game completely. His character would just be the only one I'd mute. Thank god he hasn't been getting as many roles as he used to in recent years

Haha, turns out I'm not the only one. By the way, same! if there's an option to mute a specific character's voice, I'd definitely mute that character's voice by him, just like in Nil Admirari no Tenbin and Thank god he hasn't been getting as many roles as he used in recent years too ( From what I see on vndb)

I agree with a few of the previous replies about being negatively impacted if certain VAs are present—especially if they're voicing an LI.

However, I'm glad this is a medium where it's tremendously easier to separate the art from the artists. If the character appeals to me enough, I might stop thinking about any connection to the VA. This also works in the opposite way, unfortunately. There have been several characters I'd been excited for due to VA, only for the character to disappoint me after playing.

And oh, it's so painful when your favourite VAs mainly voice side-characters…

Yessss they do!! VA is my number one criteria when choosing a game, especially when deciding to preorder a new game.

If it has Horie Shun and Shimono Hiiro, I will definitely play it!!
I also love Nakamura Yuuichi and Murase Ayumu, but unfortunately they aren't in that many otome games (at least recent ones):nyanmusu_despair:
