Why do you enjoy playing otome games? What draws you to the genre?

Why do I enjoy otome games?
Simple.
Men.

And also,,
It's because real-life people are complex especially once you get older. It's not always easy to fully understand someone or build connections the way you expect.

However otome games simplify that in a good way. The characters are still complex but their stories are structured. So it's easy to explore their personalities and backgrounds in a clear and consistent way.

I like that sense of progression where I get to understand a character step by step, seeing how they develop, and piecing together why they are the way they are. It makes the whole experience feel rewarding and satisfying 😌

I need something to pour my emotions into, and I guess I also use it as a way to escape from reality. So having that kind of space to channel my feelings really matters to me. Through games, I get to experience emotional connections that feel different from real life. I can explore all kinds of developments and relationships. I enjoy other types of games too, but otome games just suit me the best.:akazukin_puppyeyes:

hmm I've been a fan of romance related content like shoujo animes and stuff since a long time ago,, Playing otome games is a nice casual entertainment, to me it's like watching a cute show with you as the mc/ in the mc's perspective.
On the dating side, there's also much more things to consider when dating irl, but in otome games I get to experince the fluff and sometimes angst without those problems,,
Otome games are just awesome sauce lmao

I like men. It's better if the main character is a man. Although, if it's a romance and the characters are all girls, I still like it.

hot anime men(and maybe the cute ones). lots of them. enough said. oh and the dialogue needs to be interesting as well. my capacity for bearing with juvenile/boring writing is getting weaker as i grow older.

for me, I wanna see if I'm good at flirting since I'm a serial flirt by heart but due to religious purposes and also cultural purposes, that personality of mine had to behave. It's actually good for me actually. Why? Well, I had a history of dating 16 men at once. No, I did not cheat and they all knew when I add another guy into my "harem" since I would actually inform them and yes, I had a main guy I was dating and he knew about the other guys too - not happy about that fact but he didn't wanna broke up with me. Also, no, I'm not a s*** since no ahem ahem was involved, not even holding hands. My flirting game was just that good. Eventually though, I broke up with all 16 guys at once since my conscience(stemmed from my religion and culture) came slapping my head back on right. Thank god! If not, I wouldn't know what I'd end up as.

I think it's a combination of loving romance, being able to make choices, and the visual aspect. Reading a romance book is nice, but you don't get to make choices, and for most books you don't get pictures unless it's manga.

Honestly in the simplest terms I love reading romance novels/manga and playing videos games otome is kind of both so it really drew me in.

I like otome games mostly because of the beautiful cgs, osts, their stories, and their female heroines + I really enjoy the romance genre.

I love romance novels, so I like the idea of a choose-your-own-adventure story and different routes. Plus, reading books/consuming media from different countries interests me in terms of how culture/humor/values translates into the story.

For me... I'm a huge fan of romance in all forms, be it a comic, manga, anime, drama, etc. But from all of them, I enjoy reading the most so while I do like novels, I find there's something special with being able to easily visualize the story and it's characters thanks to the beautiful graphics of visual novels and of course, the voice acting, MY FAVORITE PART! I'm also not someone who imagines herself as the protagonist, but rather an espectator who gets excited with and for the protagonist and the fact that I get to dictate the outcome is pretty cool, like a little bonus. Which is why I don't mind leaving the canon name for the protagonists, their picture or voice. I do particularly enjoy female protagonists like Saki from Sweet Fuse: At Your Side (a psp otome game), a game I highly recommend if you haven't played.

I've been playing otome games since 4th grade (2012) and to this day I enjoy playing it because it lets me immerse myself into a world where I could play as someone else. To some extent, it's like an escape from the real world but at the same time, it's also reading! I really enjoyed reading as a child but I don't have the time to pick up an actual printed book anymore. Otome games have become an outlet for me to read because I get tired of reading whole blocks of text when I have a bunch of readings from university that reading physical books feel like a chore.

I love being able to choose which character the MC falls in love with. In Manga and Anime, I often wished the MC would end up with a different character, but in Otome games, I can choose the story I want

The interactivity is definitely a plus point but the main reason for me is escapism. I am aware that isn't a very healthy coping me hanism but I just like to occasionally shut down myself to the real world and be observed to how relationships and ultimately love develops. Initially I used to selfinsert while playing but now I find myself doing it very little.

In a market where female protagonists are scarce, otome games are a wonderful option. Their appeal lies in the ability to build relationships with various love interests and experience different endings. I enjoy both anime and shōjo manga, and I believe that otome games offer the most immersive experience through the heroine's perspective.

When I was 12, 13, I got a second hand psp from my relative and at that time I was into kiniro no corda manga and their good characters songs. I found that psp has its game. That was the start of my otome game journey.

I found it is a very nice way to self learn japanese, should let more people know XD
