When did you start playing otome games?

I started playing when I was 18. I watched an anime Amnesia:Memories, learned that there was a game and then decided to play it.

I believe I started playing around 2017-2018. Before, I didn't even know that the visual novel or otome game genre existed. I really liked the vampire theme (among other things), and I had already read Dracula and seen films like Nosferatu, Van Helsing and others like that. Then I watched some anime Hellsing and Vampire Knight (how sad ;u;.. a brother? Why?!...) and then I came to Diabolik Lovers on Netflix without much interest, and I even found everything quite shallow in the anime, until I discovered that there were other animes of the same style (like Amnesia Memories and Dance with Devils which I watched at the time) and that there were games that went much deeper into the characters, as well as CD dramas (which I was very happy to find online translations for most of them). After that there was no turning back lol

I think I was 13. *My Candy Love* (*Amour Sucre*) was really popular in my country, but since it was so expensive, I never actually played it. I really got into otomes with Cancel a Format when I was about 14.

I started playing otoges when i was in middle school. I didn't like that in manga heroine was dating certainly ML. So i googled the way to have multiple routes. That's how i found out about otome games

This is such a memory lane trip!! Probably around 10 to 12? I loved reading and happened upon interactive fiction books / games (hosted games, choice of.. etc) . Around the same time, also found out the burgeoning side of mobile apps' otome games such as voltage (when they all had individual apps), ntt solmare, and mystic messenger later on...
Combined with love for movies and finding out visual novels had elements of all the above??? I was sold. Anyways, I still cycle through them all, but it's super interesting to see what got people into otome! and My Candy Love too, what a throwback

I started playing them when I was like 10 or so? Back then there wasn't a lot of English otome games so I remember constantly checking forums for indie ones.

I started at like 11 or 12 can't quite remember but those where the times when the popular eng otome was really only available on ps vita and the only available PC otome were like amnesia and dandelion. We've really come a long way with the amount of localizations available now.

2016 since I think Mystic Messenger was my first?? though i'm not too sure either since I only watched Diabolik Lovers around 2013 and i dont even remember anything past that lol..

Middle school, when there were hardly any options in English except Voltage. I think my first was Kissed by the Highest Bidder or something.

I think I was 15-16 when I first discovered otome games. My first introduction to the genre was Mystic Messenger :)

I also started playing games from middle school and learned about otomega through otome anime. I really like the characters in anime and found that you can explore them in character games, so I started playing.

I was maybe around 10 to 11 when I started to play otome on my ipad like shall we date games! ( I still miss you dearly my shall we date games)

I can't remember exactly the age but I had to guess around 12 or 13? It was when the PSP was around and the first otome I played was Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. All the LIs were great but Kazama, Okita and Hijikata were always my main tops. Ever since then I've been into otome games lol

I found otome games back in 4th grade! The funny part is I discovered it not because of something specifically related to otome games but rather I watched The World God Only Knows, saw Keima playing dating sims, and I was really hooked! I was like woah what is this thing!! After that, I watched Oreimo, something a child like me shouldn't have watched at the time, saw Kirino playing eroges and when I did my research, I found otome games! At first, I thought dating sims were purely for the male gaze but then I realized the shows I liked (UtaPri, Brothers Conflict, et. al) were actually based on games!

Back when online flash games were still thriving and popular...
I played them as dating sims for girls, I did not know such a term otome existed back then

around 10 yrs old? I remember shall we date? : Wizardesss Heart+ is one of the first game I played and introduced me to otome games.

I was about 15
I first started when I played some of pacthesis' games during my childhood. I think, I don't remember since it's been a long time lol
Omg same, she was my introduction to the concept and I even learned English because of her. I was so sad that she never returned 😭

Middle school? When I was around 14 years old I think. It was a popular OELVN RE: Alistair that opened the door for me. Afterwards I picked up the Starry Sky series and the rest is history

It's hard to pinpoint but I think about 14 or 15 years ago?? it was after I watched the Hakuouki anime and I think I had just started middleschool, but since it was so long ago, it's difficult to remember lol
