Any moments when art inconsistency bothered you in otomes?

I can't tell if this is a valid complaint or not... it's almost nitpicky, but it made me wish for LESS cgs T-T. Specifically thinking of Yosuga's route in olympia soiree catharsis... honestly maybe I had high hopes because yk Satoi is awesome and so is her art, but the more I looked at the cgs... the faster I wanted to play those scenes and forget, as I found this damn LI was just turning uglier. Anyone relate?

I definitely notice it but for me art inconsistency just turns the game from serious to comedy.
Like "oh no, your eyes are each pointing different directions now. better see a doctor about that friend"
"oh wow, your chest-to-head ratio is way different. new 2d steroids??"
It makes me want to see how bad it can get.

Yes I can totally relate…I loved Riri's art in Piofiore series sooo much, and that was one of the main reasons I picked up Uchronia, but the art just seemed different.
Like some of the LIs chins were more chiseled instead of like in Piofiore they were more V shaped, and in some CGs, Hinagiku's eyes were super wide apart >.<
A lot of the CGs were still gorgeous of course, but I didn't find it as consistent as Piofiore and couldn't help but be disappointed…

As someone who started otome games with more indie ones, I have noticed that CG inconsistency happens really often. At first it really bothered me and even gave me the ick mid gameplays, but as time went on, I kind of just accepted that not all CGs would be pretty and started looking at them with a more positive mindset to avoid disappointment.

Colors , sometimes coloring would be weird it doesn't fit together

I totally relate to this! It really breaks my focus when the character in a CG doesn't match their usual "image". It is hard to stay immersed in the story when the art suddenly feels off. It almost feels like I'm looking at a different person, and it totally pulls me out of the moment.

I think the only time I felt bothered by something like that was from Nicola's front facing sprite from Piofiore. It's honestly so uncanny to me. I just wanted to go though the dialogue quickly so he would turn back to his good side lol

I feel this tends to happen due to there being a lead artist—the artist whose art style is used to represent the game and credited to—having a more unique look that is difficult to replicate. This is unfortunately what I believe to be the case for a lot of games where the CGs leave much to be desired, and I'm almost relieved to return to the regular sprites.

Karakurenai in Hana Awase felt like the king of inconsistent art. His sprite was so different compared to his CGs. I didn't hate it, but it did pull me out of the experience some. Especially in group shots where I basically had to pick him and Iroha out by process of elimination.

Other replies bring up awkward proportions and whew -- I played an indie VN recently where everyone had the smallest heads. It was distracting.

I definitely feel this a lot especially when the cg art is very different from the lead artist's...
