Has narrative flow ever made a route feel like the “true ending” to you?

Do you ever get the feeling that an otome game's story just flows better with a certain character than with the others, regardless of whether it's your favorite route... the kind of story where, even if there's no official "one true ending," a certain character's good ending feels like the true ending in your mind?

I've felt that way with a few games: Sweet Fuse (Makoto Mikami), Beast and Princess (Henrik), Amnesia: Memories (Ukyo) and Lost Magical (Louie).

Well I have this impression when playing most of the poster-boy routes. They always have more relevant elements to the story or something that ties the story together, like Akaza's route in Olympia Soiree where there are revelations about the MC and other important things. The same can be said for Yanagi from Collar x Malice, Dante from Piofiore, Vilio from Radiant Tale, Ankou from Virche... That's why whenever I start an otome game I already have a certain prejudice against the poster-boys, but in most cases I end up liking them later

You've basically read my mind; I notice that about myself quite often too

As much as I love Dante's routes in Piofiore, Nicola's 1926 sequel definitely felt very canon by the end imo. IDK it hit a different type of canon that Dante's route didn't have. I think of those two as the only possibilities for true canon in my head lmao.

That's how I feel about the character who is finally unlocked at the end. There are backstories that aren't revealed in the other character routes, and the stakes are high.

I feel this way about Allan from CupiPara. After playing his route I can't ship Lynette with anybody else. And he's not even the last character to unlock!

Majima from Butterfly's Poison. Everything leading up in the game has to do with Majima's relationship with the MC and you find out the hand he's had in almost every single route!

Allan from cupid parasite literally broke the game. It's almost like Lynette and him were made for each other. Rath from Black Wolves Saga Last Hope is also similar. The whole game is about him 💀.

I'm very biased, but Jolly's route in Arcana Famiglia felt more natural and complete to me than others. Luca is the closest second, considering he also has the whole drama spoilerish section too. Plus in the fandisk Jolly's route felt the most complete (all loose ends were tied and etc). BUT IN THE SEQUEL THOUGH, UGHH................

After playing Cupid Parasite well.. there is definitely only one real ending LI imo.. like, after playing his route, it kinda makes the other routes feel like a dang tragedy. I'm just glad he was the last LI I went through. :/

Yes!! There are routes that make so much sense (e.g. Akaza (olysoi) narratively that answers most of the questions. This often happens it with some poster boys (unless i dont like them) routes.

This was my thought, too. It always seems the poster-boy, or the route you can't play until you've done all the other ones tends to be the "true" route, even if it's not explicitly stated. Because they tend to have these revelations to the plot or characters as you said. Even if they aren't my fave routes, I definitely feel they are the "true ending" route.
