Do you use the Auto Play function when reading VNs?

It's called different things depending on the game: "Auto play", "Auto mode", "Auto-forward", etc. Do you use it?
Personally, I tried it when I first started playing VNs, but I just didn't feel comfortable with it, no matter how much I adjusted the speed, so I haven't used it since. I guess I just like reading at my own pace, even if my hand gets a little tired.
:mini_laugh:

No, I've tried it once or twice while I was eating but I prefer reading at my own speed

I use it a ton if I want to get through boring parts. I always listen to voices, so sometimes using autoplay + doing chores

For me, it depends,,

I would auto play when i am eating or when my finger had enough ramming button to read

but i would do it manually when i nearly fall asleep reading some mundane or slow paced scene

As others have already said, I've used it when I was eating (or my hands were busy crocheting lol) I think everyone can agree most game's auto play is way too slow for normal reading even if you adjust the speed 😅

with every new otome game i adjust it to the slowest option possible, just in case, but i end up never using it
cause i like to read slow and with specific emotions in my mind, like i'm in the role or something... usually never fits the temp of the auto play
the only time i could use auto play is when the mc is voiced as well... but then again... the narration isn't voiced, so... no... i guess, i can never use it

Nope, I always play manually so I can go at my own pace. I also think I wouldn't pay attention while using auto. Having to at least press a button to proceed helps me stay focused (comprehending what's going on is kind of the point after all ;P).

not really, no..;; i feel like if i turn on the autoread, i will get easily distracted, and visual novels usually require like 98% of your attention, so you kinda cant afford to get lazy when reading....! thats what i think at least><
also, i mostly read in english to kinda "practice" and stuff, but since its not my native language, im afraid i might miss out on some important context if the text is processing by itself ww
i can totally see why autoread might be useful though!! if you are fluent enough in japanese, you really can pay slightly less attention to the vn and just do something else (kinda like mothers do with tvs ww). i really like the idea of crocheting while reading like angel222 mentioned... this just sounds so comfy......!

Only when I replay scenes! I read really fast, so I will usually skip the voiced lines. However, after I finish the game, I will replay my favorite scenes with autoplay to hear the voice acting properly.

I don't use this feature. The text moves too slowly, but the feature can be useful if your hands are busy. However, for the most part, it is useless.

Neverrr
I zone out easily if I use the autoplay function lmao
Plus the speed is never right no matter how much I tweak it 😔

Nope never- I like reading at my own speed and also tend to sometimes replay lines bc I liked how the VA sounded lol

It depends. If it's an en localized game and I'm comfortable, I leave it on auto. If it's a relevant scene, I take my time. If it's only in jp, I go slowly and try to read everything, so I don't use auto :]
