That's the thing, he's not creating shit. He's ripping off established characters in ways that are borderline if not actually illegal (using clips of their voices). He's using a bunch of assets people made for a game with a character creator, not making his own models, characters or using a real animation making tool. There's no copyright to defend, it's only the Japanese culture around indie doujin works that keeps this guy from getting sued to oblivion - and that doesn't fully apply, because he's not recouping costs of making physical work like the people that print their own doujins, he's purely making profit off exploiting IP that he has no ownership of, using assets he didn't make and has no right to. KK especially is exploited by clowns, because you can get animation files as well as characters as downloadable cards for free.

It's clown behavior for people like that to be the ones that are loudest about being pirated. It's much more understandable for creators with actual original works to complain.

I don't know the stuff from the malcony guy but after a quick glance at their Twitter it seems like they mostly use motions from other creators, because I recognize some of them. A lot of animators also use models that were freely shared by others too. So if they use the motions and models of other creators I feel like at some point it's not really "their own work" anymore. I mean sure they still put it together themselves and that's some work, but it's a little rich to be overly protective and butthurt over people pirating your stuff when you already rely on the free work of more skilled and generous creators to even be able to make anything in the first place.
If that's paired with an unreasonable payment requirement to get the content the legitimate way, like it is the case with the cobby guy for example, who requires you to be subbed for two months in a row for some videos and others require you to have supported him for an accumulated amount of over $300, then I don't really have much sympathy for them trying to "protect their copyright". I don't even think you can get all their past works legitimately because he arbitrarily limits access to them after a couple months, quite literally making it a requirement for people to pirate and share the content or otherwise it becomes lost media.
Thankfully the majority of creators are much more generous and only require a simple fairly cheap payment to access most of their works and if you really like some creator you should support them since they deserve the money for the work they do.

It could go the other way too; authors expecting every person on earth to properly own their product.
It doesn't happen and both sides exist so might aswell have all parties be gracious about it.

If I didn't know half of their shares wouldn't exist if people could have an appropriate demo/description before sub I'd be very mad about this.

Some authors legitimately go like
- Video 1 - 30s demo in which nothing happens
- description - this is a video I made, enjoy.
- footnote - Please don't share on other platforms
(8 alt versions at different price ranges)

Creating MMD or KoiKatsu videos requires models, motions, sound sources, and visual effects.

If everything is the creator's complete original work, they could claim copyright. But once they use models or sound sources created by others, the video creator has no right to claim copyright.

That's exactly what I want to ask: are these video creators paying royalties to the modelers and musicians?

Apologies, i didn't expect my post to create a multi-page thing. I believe the creator does deserve money even if it's utilizing other individuals models (as long as they have permission as well). i posted to inform that i would not be posting publicly about them anymore and why the link was killed.

I also previously shared as i do feel the same way that it's rough for people to enjoy content and would like to prevent lost media from happening from enjoyable content due to not being able to afford it by requiring hundreds of dollars/$ to get the whole collection and/or with no other method at all to obtain.

that being said, i will still post other artists i enjoy and come across until told otherwise since alot of artists i would not have found if not for other people here and on other forums and would like more people to discover and enjoy content as well in hope one day they may support the artist(s) as well. i take it the same way as piracy for games. if i enjoy the game/content and i have the money, then I'll support them when i have the money and buy it down the road.

I'm just going to put this out there:

Everyone in KK uses each others scenes, whether credited or not and sure if you think thats an offense, care about it. But the one thing I'm going to really say is that they dont use vtuber sound clips. He commissions JP voice actresses and even credits them on the videos that they take part in, either on fantia or twitter.

My recent reply was meant for you too, but to add on to it: He doesn't super limit his content either.
He has content released for the month on a plan, but after that he releases it onto booth for cheaper, and you can buy an entire months backlog for like, $3, since on booth its 500 yen which is barely anything. The people I would hold disdain for are people like Leool/Releo, who gatekeep LARGE quantities of scenes until you pay for 4 months of a subscription which is quite costly, and even then you don't get the full selection as you have to make a request for 1-2 scenes PER MONTH, so if you want to actually get all their content you'd have to be subbed more than likely for over a year.

So to be quite honest, pirating this guys work simply is not worth the hassle as you can probably buy every single animation this guy has ever made for like, 60 bucks give or take? Probably a tad more, but I'm not counting all the booth backlogs, I paid for what I wanted and just walked away.

I assume you're talking about malcony and I'm really not aware of their content. My comment about the unreasonable prices was mainly just about cobby since somebody else mentioned their name earlier and they're also one of those creators that just use mostly motions from other creators for their videos and takes down uploads of their stuff all the time. It's good if creators make their old content easily available for a reasonable price.

i can confirm he is definitely using vtuber sound clips but its only grunts and moans that hes clipped. hes mixing it in with the generic ones that i've heard across alot of the other KK vids. Main example is his okayu vids. go check those posts. theres no commissioned VA listed there and i definitely recognize okayu's voice. His recent longer vids tho, yes hes commissioned VAs for those.
