８月１５日の玉音放送で終結したと思われてきた太平洋戦争。しかしその後も各地の部隊が特攻作戦を続け、米軍上陸に備えてゲリラ戦の準備も行われるなど、本土決戦への意欲を高めていた。一方、日本進駐を進めようとしていた米軍は、日本の部隊が戦闘をやめない事態を想定。武力で日本上陸を行うことを計画していた。再び戦闘が起きれば本土が戦場となり、私たちが知る戦後と違う道を歩む可能性もあったのだ。
