Summary:
January 1958.
It was an unusually cold and snowy year. That day the girl's funeral was held amidst the gray falling snow. There was only her portrait and the girl on it looked somewhat embarrassed and lonely.
A few days after the Blessed Congregation case was resolved, the imprisoned creator of "Girl in the Shell", Mamiya Shinzou, passed away. Tokisaka Reiji along with Maris Stella went to sort out articles of the deceased painter. And there was found his unpublished painting of an armless, one-winged angel. The picture, later named "Divine Punishment", with its mixture of beauty and uncanniness, was at the same level as the famous "Girl in the Shell".
A few more days later, the corpse of a woman decorated in the same manner as the angel from "Divine Punishment" was found. She used to work in the same gallery as Masaki Tomoyuki.
Perhaps, only the existence of one little girl may cut off the entwined paranoia that has begun from "Girl in the Shell" and continued to "Divine Punishment".
