This is embarrassing, but in 洗隷の艦 , is there any special requirements to beat the level bosses? I made it to the fox shrine maiden level but can't seem to damage her?

In each chapter, there should be a sub-quest (as in not compulsory) somewhere halfway through the chapter (it's marked with a red sword sign). If you don't do all three of them, when you reach the last goddess it will become a monster. On the other hand, losing to the monster is an event, so...

Hmm, basically I only did it when all the goddesses were corrupted already. That could be a requirement - I assume so since the ruin mode in previous games needs the goddess to be corrupted first.

Does anyone know how the Ruin mode works? I can conclusively get the "evil" end for the goddesses, but I can't seem to trigger the Ruin mode.

The error basically says it can't find the file First things first - go to the install folder. Is there a folder called bg? If yes, check if the file exists. If yes, what is your locale? Sometimes on a purely Eng setup the system can't read the Japanese characters in folder paths. I normally...
