Personally they're not my type, but if they are close in age to the MC, it's not such a dealbreaker.

Usually I prefer slow burn (as long as it doesn't drag). Insta love can work but that also depends on how the genuine feelings develop. Nothing too obsessive right away.

I wouldn't mind if it's done right. I like a little drama and angst. But I have never come across this kind of LI before. The only one I can think of is from Olympia Soiree but he's not a LI (I wish!!) Could you give some examples?

My favorite is kuudere and generally LIs who don't fall for the MC too quickly. My least favorite is the obsessive childhood friend. Like, I'm usually ok with yandere and also with childhood friends, but not when it's both.

Well said. is my favorite lol. I don't think it's OOC at all. His behaviour makes perfect sense, given everything that's happened. And I think a lot of the Japanese fandom would agree with you too, seeing how many there are on pixiv. 🤭

Tomomori from Birushana. I guess it's because he felt OOC in his own route compared to how he was in the common route and other routes. Cough cough Benkei. The messy lore dump didn't help either.
