  1. What are your favorite indie VNs? - Otome, Amare, and BL

I don't have any recent favorites since a lot of the ones I've tried are demos, but these are ones I've enjoyed a lot in the past and have set the standard for me personally. oelvns: a2 aloners (redux) autumn's journey knife of the traitor memoirs of an angel our life: beginnings and always...
  2. How many otome/bl games do you finish per year?

Last year I think it was an average of one commercial otome game per month, but I have yet to finish a single one this year... I find it easier to do my dailies (aka, do lessons/battles, "visit" friends/allies, and use the five daily tickets to read about 5-10 mins worth of story) for a couple...
  3. Current favorite otome seiyuu (voice actor)

Ichijou Hirame is the GOAT, like what? Aside from having a great voice, he writes his own scripts for monoblue? And he's streamed tmgs4 on his yt channel before? AND he can play the drums? The dude's after my own heart man But like everyone else here, I also like Mitsuhashi Wataru. He never...
  4. otome settings/careers/concepts you'd like to see more of

An otome game with cooking mini-games a la cooking mama, waku waku sweets, etc. would be neat. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach or whatever, but really, I think any career-oriented otome game would be fun. Like, fishing could be cool too. Just anything other than farming...
  5. Have you ever played a kinetic otome game?

I've played a couple of otome kinetic novels by Koyonplete. Most of them used adv but there was one that was completely nvl (no sprites, only text, sometimes had cgs). The nvl one read a lot like a novel and even had pov changes to the guy which was kinda nice but I think I still prefer vns over...
  6. Historical otome games like Hakuoki

It has english text w/ full zh voice acting! The translation is pretty good, from what I remember
  7. Do you guys keep notes on your thoughts after playing otome games?

I don't have the attention span to be able to juggle playing and taking notes, nor the patience to sit down and reflect after a play session (also, my brain is empty when I play, so there is no thoughts to write down lol). The bare minimum I do in reflecting is rate the game on vndb, but reading...
  8. Historical otome games like Hakuoki

If you're okay with non-jp historical, I'd rec My Vow to My Liege. The worldbuilding and story feels very grand and epic, kinda c-drama-ish if you know what I mean. The MC is also a highlight of the game, love love love her. Def one of the best MCs in otome games imo
  9. What changes have otome games brought to you or your life?

Cupipara Ryuki sold me on the benefits of natto so I have it every morning now, for like the past 3-4 years. The smell, taste, and texture really isn't as bad as people make it out to be
  10. How do you feel about LIs who still have feelings for someone else?

Not a fan of LIs with this kind of conflict, but I'd still play the route to see how the drama and angst plays out. Can't think of a route where it's not frustrating to play, though
  11. Otome Game tracker: koilog

Sharing my acct here 👀 WIP since I still have a lot of games to rate and LIs to rank, but let's be friends! Love to see a space dedicated to joseimuke and otome fans https://koilog.moe/u/chcknqoop
  12. Do you have a favorite otome game developer?

Aside from the ones mentioned, I'd say TWOFIVE, despite only having four otome games to their name. I've only played Yo-Jin-Bo (historical isekai with outdated pop references) and Gakuen Tokkyuu Hotokenser (sentai with LOTS of CGs), but I love how fresh and different their games are. It's a...
  13. What's a game that everyone seems to love but you hate?

Olympia Soiree seems to be a polarizing title that more people seem to love than hate, but I def fall in the hater camp. I had to push myself to finish bc everyone I knew said Akaza was worth it (spoiler alert: nope). At least I know I won't touch Tengoku Struggle unless I was compensated for...
  14. Which Otome/BL has made you laugh the hardest?

Otome games that I found hilarious overall are Gakuen Tokkyuu Hotokenser, Brocon, Ozmafia, Storm Lover Kai, Dot Kareshi, Princess Nightmare, Tenipuri (doubles and gakupuri), Love Revo, Yo-Jin-Bo, and Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome And for characters/routes that I found really funny even though...
  15. Mobile otome recommendations

Have you tried games from SEEC Inc? Idle clicker gameplay and they're relatively easy to finish within a week. I liked My Puppy Fiance the most but the others have bigger casts. Samurai Love Ballad Party is one of the best otome games you could play on mobile just from the sheer amount of LIs...
