I enjoy both BL and otome content. I tend to avoid errr shounen fanservice-y stuff recently.

I love "princely" blond LI! They are soft, polite, with a warm smile that hides a calculating and sometimes violent personality Not violent towards the MC, though!

In visual novels, my first choice is usually a polite young man, who is extremely devoted to the MC, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness for them. After his route, doing the others is pure torture, but what can you do It also helps if he's a bit... feminine, elegant, gentle

I also like "older brother"-type of character who is caring, doting and protective, but is usually hard to get, because FOR SOME REASON he doesn't believe he's allowed to be with the MC.

I prefer fantasy to the real world setting. But the main factor in choosing the romance story is supernatural elements and a bit of "darkness" in it! I need those! It's boring to read about slice of life (even if the story is hilarious).
I don't like mafia, detectives, vampires in visual novel. There could be an exception, but overall - nope.
