Spiral. I barely remember what the show is even about (I was a kid when I watched it), but i did enjoy the show (surprising because the main show I was enjoying that season was gundam seed). Anyway, its all about geniuses, and of course, the main character is one of them.

I last anime I watched that has become a favorite is Eureka Seven. I seem to have a soft spot for mecha shows, but I did become attached to the various characters in that show. I've heard AO isn't as good... so I'll wait until the season finale before I actually watch it haha.

Also remember that there's AGTH/ITH (text extraction) and translation aggregator/ATLUS (japanese text translation) to help with reading japanese text if you can't read japanese. Of course the translation is generally really crude, but most eroge do not have very complicated text to begin with...
