  1. Otome Game News

Cupid Parasite for PC launches September 22 via Steam
  2. What do you feel about the villainess reincarnation portrayal in anime and manga?

I love this kind of story. I can't say exactly why, but I just can't get enough of them. My favorites in this genre are "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!" (manga, anime, and light novel) and "Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story" (manhwa). There are tons of stories like...
  3. How did you discover otome games genre?

I think I stumbled into it while "doom surfing." That was around 2010. Starry Sky in Spring ended up being my first otome game. My Japanese was pretty mediocre, so I mostly played otome games on Windows, using a combination of programs to translate them. It was a bit of a clumsy setup, but...
  4. Why are otome games so popular?

I believe there are several reasons why the genre has gained so much popularity, especially in recent years. 1. Control over the plot and freedom of choice Unlike romance movies or novels, where the viewer is merely a passive observer, players in otome games take the reins themselves. 2...
  5. What type of dere are you & What is your favourite dere-type?

Yandere, Genki, and Kuudere characters pretty much always work for me. With Tsundere types, it really depends on the specific character; there are some I like and some I don't. The one I never really warm up to is the playboy. I usually just skim through his route, simply to complete the game.
  6. How many otome have you finished

Phew, I'm really not sure about that. I've played some of them multiple times across various platforms, and to be honest, I don't really keep track. But it's probably around 60+ titles.

Aksys Games unveiled the English opening for OVER REQUIEMZ during IGN Live 2026. The dark fantasy otome visual novel is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on August 20, 2026.

    Thanks :)
  9. If you ended up in an otome game, which role do you think you'd be?

Probably an NPC :D Or maybe the eccentric aunt. Though personally, I'd like to be an antagonist—or an antagonist's henchman.
  10. Which otome studio do you think is the best?

Phew, that's a tough one. When I first started, I was a huge fan of honeybee. Otomate has certainly built up a bit of a monopoly. But with AmuLit, there's an interesting newcomer that's really making a successful mark now. So far, I've actually liked pretty much all their games—even if it's...
  11. What are some fresh concepts/themes you’d like to see used in a new title?

I'd really like more stuff like 9 R.I.P.—I thought the School Ghost Stories arc was absolutely amazing. That kind of Japanese folklore horror. Or maybe even something in the vein of Corpse Party.
  12. Do you use default settings on VNs?

So, if the option is there, I change the text speed. It's usually too slow for me. I often turn it all the way up.
  13. What's your top otome recommendations for newcomers?

I'd say Amnesia: Memories. It was—alongside Starry Sky—at least one of my first otome games. But given the many releases in recent years, there's now a huge selection of good otome games out there. The Hakuoki franchise is also quite extensive, comprising numerous titles. Among the much more...
  14. Otome Game tracker: koilog

I think the site is awesome, but will the filter function be expanded? So you can hide all the fan patches, for example. When I search for upcoming releases, the top of the list is completely cluttered with "TBA" fan patches.
  15. Do you use a guide or go in blind when playing otome games?

It really depends. Thanks to the Love Catch system, it's become much easier to follow routes. But I still always have a guide open because I want to reach everything. And I'm just too lazy to search for things myself.
