MMD discussion and sharing

Just a heads up for anybody thats following artists on Fantia. Fantia made some changes to their guidelines and alot of artists are NOT happy with what their gonna be doing from now. i'm already seeing some ppl announcing that they're stopping all activity and moving to other sites. some are beginning to private all of their videos so do what you can.

"we have received extremely strict guidance and criticism from various organizations"

Am I paranoid for thinking it's western puritan pieces of shit behind this, at least partially? Don't get me wrong I'm sure Japan also has those types, but I'm just as sure the westerners gladly jumped on the bandwagon to help push those "strict guidance and guidelines", at least.

It's never actually about morals with this stuff. It's money, always money.
No entity with enough power or influence to force fantia do be more strict cares about you or "the children". More than likely mastercard, visa, etc. is bullying overseas vendors because they can squeeze more money out of them.
They already did it once, who is to say a vendor based somewhere else is not doing the same thing. INB4 you say "that makes no sense" you're thinking too long term, all these actions are for short term gains (like thinking a year ahead max). How or why this is a gain for them is probably so incomprehensible, that you would need a finance and law degree to even guess.

Sucks pretty badly. They're requiring quite a bit more strict censorship now. I think a lot of creators wouldn't pass this new standard depending on how strictly it will be enforced and the quality for us consumers will just degrade with even more obtrusive censorship.

On the perhaps bright side, if creators start moving towards other platforms like Patreon they could completely drop the censorship there like some creators already do, but they might also face other restrictions regarding certain types of content not being allowed at all.

Considering this seems to be only about censorship of genitals, which isn't even really a thing in the West I'm not sure I see a connection here. Would be at least really weird if that was their angle.

I don't think this is mainly Western puritanism.
Fantia itself says it received strict legal guidance/criticism from "related institutions." With Japan's Article 175 and vague obscenity enforcement, this looks more like domestic legal/police pressure forcing creators into heavier mosaics and self-censorship.

Is Fantia going to go down just like Kemono did? After this latest update, I imagine most creators will be migrating to other sponsorship platforms.

Really bad that this is happening in Fantia space, have dozen of subscribed artists in there and they have posted their own annoucement. Some of them will private/delete old videos, because they have to modify all of them in 4 days of time, basically their whole collection just to get those videos back up. Say 300+ past posts and have to do it in 4 days is ridiculous. No wonder this pissed the hell out of them and are considering leaving the platform.

some of the artists mentioned in the posts about the law and they are not blaming Fantia because it is legal matter to the company but they are still pissed about it.

Those who have also Patreon account would have the option of just switching to Patreon to avoid the censorship, but for those who uses Fantia as a sole platform and have many video posts, it will be difficult.

How ridiculous, I can't believe Japanese law cares this much about this shit, it's cartoonish.
Hopefully artist just migrate to fanbox, substar or patreon now. Not like they need to worry about Kemono anymore.
You're talking about a country where porn is still technically illegal, which is why all JAVs are 2 hours long and censorship still exists in such abundance. This swing does suck but it's not actually surprising. The anti-"obscenity" forces in Japan have always existed and always been powerful, they were just biding their time until their next push. There's absolutely no reason to blame foreigners for this.

It might finally be time to start paying for Patreon. Since my credit card application was approved the other day, this seems like a good opportunity.

Honestly I had no idea it was that bad.
I'm not blaming foreigners but it's not unreasonable for people to assume they would be involved in any form of censorship.

Do you know why Japanese porn is censored?
It's strictly to claim that no actual sex is taking place.
If they sold it with a label stating that sex is happening, it would be considered prostitution and therefore illegal.
That's why they censor it—so that, on the surface, it appears no sex is happening. They sell it as if it's just simulated acts.

The most likely explanation for this Fantia issue is that an antisocial organization started selling sex videos to raise funds.
They were posting uncensored videos until the platform administrators issued correction notices every time a new video was uploaded.
The police had been keeping an eye on them, and it seems the illustration community got caught in the crossfire.

I know this might not be the right place to ask, but I'm looking for something like this thread—but for a 3D live-action version.
If anyone knows where I can find it, please let me know.
Thank you in advance.

they definitely have some blame though, i'd imagine the whole censorship bullshit the EU has done and what the US is trying to do enabled the japanese censorship crowd to gain more leeway to actually start pushing companies into stricter rules, though obviously theres not much actual foreign involvement in this case

Isn't it to avoid legal restrictions under Article 175 of the Japanese Penal Code, "Distribution of Obscene Materials, etc."?
