Do you guys keep notes on your thoughts after playing otome games?

yes!! though i don't do it for every game i play.. and they're not elaborate, cohesive reviews -- they'd probably be hard to understand if someone else were to read them lol. mostly just silly annotations, screenshots of quotes i found moving/beautiful or funny, yapping about why i like or dislike something etc etc. i think it's a good habit to keep, i sincerely recommend it even if you don't have like. an extensive vocabulary or any deep analysis to offer (i rarely do, and most of the time they're things that were better said by others already but idc!)

personally i don't want to feel like i'm just mindlessly consuming things so i try to engage w it as much as possible and examine how it made me feel/the questions a certain work posed/its strengths and shortcomings and writing my thoughts down helps with that. coming back to those notes can be fun and give you more things to think about as time passes!

A little bit!! But mostly as a guide to remind me what happened since I have a bad habit of dropping games for months and then trying to come back to them. If they're on PC I even take some screenshots of things and put it into the word doc I'm using...

I love writing reviews!
But maybe because I unconsciously avoid spoilers and end up being vague, there are a lot of games where I can't even remember the plot when I reread my reviews.
Still, you can really feel the passion I had back then, so it's fun to read them again.

yes I do! I usually do this with my books community, and I just 'yoinked' one of the excel sheet that is already beautifully and efficiently made by them and they shared for other people to use to keep notes/rating/play finish date/review etc for public <3 I just tweaked it a little for game purpose, since it is made for books

I love journalling so whenever I play a game I usually write my thoughts and reviews in my journal. I like looking back at them and seeing how I felt about a certain character or plot. It's all really messy, but its a good way to make space for my brain and also record some memories :)

definitely!! i create a discord channel for each otome i play and livetweet there LOL, i highly recommend it because you essentially get a mini highlight of the game that is highly accessible (instead of opening up ur switch everytime u wanna see screenshots :p)

i also use vndb to write my final review/impression with a more critical tone

yes! i went through the same thing; i started writing reviews because i forget easily, and ended up forgoing it because it felt like a burden
i recently picked it up again seriously when i went through my bookmarks of WIPs that i had forgotten about because they either hadn't been updated in a while, been put on hiatus, or got deleted altogether
i love revisiting them, especially the ones with games i didn't enjoy because i was very passionate with my criticisms lol
i also love making my list look pretty and organized! now i find myself looking for games to play just so i can add it to my list :)

That's a good question! Depends on my attention span level I guess. I tend to get distracted easily so I'm not sure I can keep track of all my thoughts. But I suppose I do try to keep some stuff in mind after each route.

You guys are really good at writing, aren't you? I thought you were just keeping a diary, but it turns out you're actually writing proper essays—that's impressive.
As for me, I'm using the game's replay feature to jog my memory…

not in a super detailed format, but my friend and i send each other our thoughts whenever we play an otome so i have texts with all my little reviews

I take a few notes, mostly just if I liked the game or not, my favourite characters etc. I usually only do it so I can discuss it with my friend as he's not into Otome games but enjoys hearing about them.

No. If i really love game im not forget anything even in couple years. If not interesting i will forget.

Yes I do. I write notes on Koilog, it has a section for your own notes for each route. Although I just started this recently bc I realized it's helpful when I write reviews afterwards! So I usually write notes on parts I love, parts I find weird plot wise, or even parts I just find curious.

I try to write reviews for unlocalized games in particular, bc I remember when I first started playing unlocalized games, it's often so hard to find spoiler free reviews! So many blogs reviews are very spoiler heavy.
So now that I am able to play unlocalized games, I figured writing reviews would probably be beneficial to the community!
I rly love how after I watch a movie, I can just easily look up thoughts or analysis on it. Meanwhile, it's pretty hard to do for otome games. So I hope I can help contribute to this!
I love the notes option on koilog, I find it so useful. That's also how I keep track of my thoughts and all that.

Sometimes when I complete a route for a character I really like, I'll briefly write down the plot and my feelings in my diary. Since I don't have many friends who play otome games, I mostly just write it down for myself. However, when I encounter strange plot points, I'll also complain to my close friends. Although they don't play, they'll discuss the strange plot points with me.

I will do that. After playing the game, I will write some thoughts.Occasionally, I can still turn back and revisit the game's storyline.

I used to play games and then just forget about them XD

I never thought about writing anything down. But since I don't have much storage space on my computer and needed to delete some archives, I started writing reviews for each game I played. At first, I didn't know how to begin either.

Currently, I'm using Blogger. I found a template, but sometimes I forget details, so I try to take notes while playing—which is kind of annoying because I can't fully concentrate on the game while thinking about writing everything. And without realizing it, my "review" turns into more of a summary of the game LOL (of course with some personal thoughts).

Now I'm trying to get better at writing reviews for myself. To avoid spoilers and be more objective, I also post reviews on VNDB as a record (yeah, doing both things).

I need to replay some older games since I didn't record them before.

I don't have the attention span to be able to juggle playing and taking notes, nor the patience to sit down and reflect after a play session (also, my brain is empty when I play, so there is no thoughts to write down lol). The bare minimum I do in reflecting is rate the game on vndb, but reading this thread has inspired me and makes me want to exercise that part of my brain bc I do tend to forget how I feel about the games I play even a month ago

Sometimes I make a ranking or write a comment about my favourite character or the character I liked the least, but it's not really elaborate and I don't always do it lol (I should, though, because I tend to forget things)

Whenever I play a game, I write down quotes from the love interests and save them. Then, whenever I think about them, I go back and look through the lines that really moved me at the time.

This is just how I keep track of the games I play. I'm not really good at writing down my thoughts or reviews. Maybe I'm just a boring woman, lol. XD

No, but I think I probably should do it, it is interesting to look back as a diary and easier to discuss with other people as well

I usually jot down brief notes about my thoughts as I play games. If I write them down right away while the emotions are still fresh, I can better recall how I felt when I look back on them later. When I don't have time to write a long review, I'll sometimes just note down lines or dialogue that stood out to me. After finishing a game, I tend to leave a short overall impression, and I love how reading it again later brings back memories of when I played it.
