Do you like secret love interests or not?

I personally love secret LIs, especially if they are actually well hidden, so I'm actually surprised when I stumble across their routes.

My friend on the other hand hates secret LIs because they get less merch and don't appear in the tokuten drama CDs, which I'm also sad about too tbh.

The secret/locked LIs are usually the ones I end up liking the most in otome games.

I do! Their routes are usually fun and I like the surprise when I suddenly end up on them. The only thing I don't like is that their routes tend to be shorter so less development with the mc and less cgs.

This kind of character is usually foreshadowed in other routes, and then revealed in the true route. When done well, it can be really emotionally impactful, but if you're not interested in the other characters, it can be a real drag to play through.

I love hidden LIs — there's something really exciting about unlocking a secret route. It feels rewarding, like you discovered something special.

But if I have to clear every single character's ending just to meet him? That's where I start hesitating. I don't like feeling forced to sit through routes I'm not enjoying just to unlock one character I actually care about. If the other routes are fun, sure, I don't mind.

I love a secret route! They usually end up being my favorites. Some games with locked hidden routes that I enjoyed were Makoto (Sweet Fuse), Hanate (7'scarlet) and Shiki (Period Cube), even though with the latter two I was not really into the other LIs!

I both do and don't if the secret love interest has been involved in the narrative from the beginning and plays a role in other routes than they're amazing and rewarding, if they're out of left field , scarcely seen and mentioned than it's feels like a whole lot of nothing, especially because secret routes tend to be shorter than other routes.

I LOVE SECRET ROUTES I love routes locked behind other routes I love routes that you have to do very specific things in order to find I love love love love love them. It makes me feel like I have excavated some secret that fills me with joy.

I'm indifferent to secret routes. As long as they have a good story and develop a good relationship with the MC, just like the other routes that aren't secret routes, I'll like them.
