When did you start playing otome games?

I started playing otome games in middle school. My first one was Amnesia Memories I found it after watching the anime, and then discovered it was on Steam for super cheap. It was rated PEGI 12, so I was actually able to convince my dad to buy it for me, and that's basically how I fell down the otome rabbit hole

I was an avid self-insert fics reader (those xreader stuffs were my guilty pleasure, still is), then I got into those Android otomes where you have to wait for a specific hours to get tickets to proceed further into the stories lmaoaoa

I was very young, prob 13 or 14! I first learned about otome games by watching their anime adaptations. At the time, english translated games were very few but my motivation to play them was so intense i ended up learning japanese for it lol

I think since 2021 or so? Well.. 2017-2018 if u count mystic messenger. I only rlly got into console otomes or the heavier games around 2023 though. The first game I ever 100% was cupid parasite lol.. I've always had exposure to otome because of my older sibling who was rlly into diabolik lovers though hahahaha

Probably aroung 10 to 11 ish! I played a lot of "dating" flash games before that age and got into visual novels through the ds which had a lot of mystery games like 999, professor layton and ace attorney. I dont remember what the first otome game I played was but games that come to mind are dandelion, hakuoki and amnesia. I also played a few I probably shouldnt of at that age in the BL genre like enzai and togainu no chi but the 2010s era internet was a diffrent can of worms than it is nowdays XD.
