Fair enough. Smaller screens aren't always bad either, I guess―personally I find it easier to get focused on smaller screens (as they obviously don't have as much area to put your attention to as bigger screens). For example, while I like reading e-books on a mobile device, I try to avoid reading too much on bigger screens, even for things like blog posts. And yeah, I agree about your view on drawing. It's a medium to express yourself and pour your imagination, something you should feel free and at leisure rather than pressured to do. Money does ruin things sometimes.

It seems not only so, it's so. Well, SOTM lives the renaissance age fully though; the next SOTM will then the industrial age be, where the SOTM fast filled will...xD

Well, really. I hope sometime for the upcoming SOTMs that not just 5-10 candidates join, but really sometime about 20-30 candidates their fun in this contest find will, and their experiences each other exchange be can...

    Re: SOTM #30 - April 2015

I sure hope so. Having ten candidates as a start would sure be nice. Though, personally, I have no qualms with having a smaller community base for SOTM. Smaller numbers aren't always worse as they may result in a tight-knit community.

In the meantime, if anyone still has any questions or would like some suggestions related not just to SOTM in particular but graphics-y stuff in general, if it's something within my knowledge, I'll be happy to help.

Might as well ask the question that I have been wondering about, you know that resizing an image loses some of the information? I mean that if you shrink an image very small with free transform and apply it, then after reverting it back then you will get a blurry image of the original. At the moment I always duplicate the original to prevent this, just in case I change my mind about the size, but do you know if there is a better way?

Try converting the layer into a Smart Object before resizing it. Before I proceed to explain, I must note that duplicating layers is always a good, easy way of preservation, because there IS a limit to how many times you can undo your actions. Whether you'll make use of the Smart Object method or not, you should always have backup layers.

      Spoiler:
To convert a layer into a Smart Object, simply right-click on it and choose "Convert to Smart Object".

The primary difference between a Smart Object layer and a normal one lies in the perception of size. If you resize objects in a normal layer, it treats the newly resized objects as 100% once you're done resizing, regardless of whether you previously enlarged it by 1000% or shrank it into 10%. With a Smart Object layer, if you resize an object (whether enlarging or shrinking), it remembers the percentage. For example, if you resize such a layer into 25% x 25% of the original, it will still be in 25% x 25% the next time you attempt to resize it again, not 100% x 100%.

Here's how it'd look like if you resized a normal layer into 25% x 25% and then back to 100% x 100%, because the second resize actually bloats the image into 400% x 400% of the then-25% x 25% image.

With a Smart Object layer, resizing it back to 100% x 100% actually does resize it back to 100% x 100%. See that little thing I highlighted? It denotes that a layer is a Smart Object.

Smart Objects have limitations: you can't edit the layers directly by drawing on them or deleting parts of them. You can convert a Smart Object layer back into a normal one by right-clicking on it and choosing "Rasterise Layer".

Thanks for fixing things up! I knew I posted that wrong, I JUST KNEW!!!

Might be interested, though I usually prefer doing my own themes and tend to procrastinate too much (I'm already overdue for this month's sig change).
