I just got new computer and can't get things to run properly

Every time I try to open a game or try to install a new one I get an error message saying invalid character if I open the game on my old computer it runs fine. I downloaded the language packs and have my location to set to Japan. I don't know what I'm missing on the new computer to get it to run the games.
