Suggestions on .gif creation tools

Hi guys i am after some software to make .gif pretty fast from videos.
I dont really want to use photoshop and i am not a big fan of is and was wondering if anyone knows of some great software.

Have you used Gimp? Pretty easy to make animations using it.

hmm..how about GifCam...i use it to make a short gif for my signature

Gimp was okish very resource Hungry from my experiances, as for messing around with videos not to sure on that really

tested GifCam 2 out works fine, but missing a few options i kind of need :)
