1) For those of you having trouble hooking the text, try old ITH - NOT ITHVNR. When I used normal ITH it hooked first try for me, whereas ITHVNR couldn't see the process to hook it. I've come across this problem before, and sometimes if you use old school ITH it works fine - this was the case...

If I'm understanding http://www.e-rondo.jp/products/dev001kn/patch.html correctly (and feel free to double-check, my Japanese is not very good), the installation version in the complete box (this) is already updated to the equivalent of this patch... so you don't need to patch the main game?

Akatsuki no Goei is pretty much a deadpan snarkfest that tends to be pretty hilarious, with decent plot to boot. Both the hero (though he's honestly closer to anti-hero) and heroines tease one another. Pretty much any AXL game tend to be good romantic comedies with teasing back and forth...

I can also vouch for Eien no Aselia, though personally I preferred Seinarukana (still want that translation to be done so I can go on a binge replay). Specifically reincarnation, however... that one's tricky. Reincarnations of the heroines is all over the place - such games are relatively easy...
