    Authenicty of FLAC Rips

Hi, I'm new here so I just want to ask something. Are all FLAC files on XDCC directly ripped from the discs? Some files are tested as cutoff files by FLAC checkers. Can anyone provide clarification? Thanks.

Not all are "directly" ripped from the discs. ASL members have their own preferences, but when they rip a CD, they almost always―quite possibly always―rip the files into a big merged lossless file such as TAK. So, yes, they are "cut-off files" in the sense that we use the generated CUE sheet to split a merged lossless file into separate, compressed lossless files in FLAC.

What "FLAC checkers" are you using, by the way?

    Re: Authenicty of FLAC Rips

I see. I might've misunderstood you at first when you said "cutoff files" as I took it to mean separate files that were split out of something. It's true that some so-called "remasters" nowadays are simply upsampled, as is sometimes the case with hi-res (24-bit) FLAC; however, that'd be a shortcoming on the studio's part, not ours.

Also, while Audiochecker is generally reliable, it's not perfect either. This is nothing but an anecdotal case, but I've had a track I myself ripped from a CD I physically have declared as "not lossless". You might want to also try an alternate method of checking like relying on databases containing user-submitted checks such as AccurateRip and CTDB.

Not all the cd on earth are uncompressed. In fact, most music cds nowadays have a certain degree of compression from studio to their cd. Some digitally mastered music are also compressed by recordings by default (cheap license).

I only post what I bought. My uploads are for those who share the same taste but could not easily import them. If you can buy the game, please do it to support the company.
