Why avatars are too small i find it strange so ok the res is good but the quality is really Bad why not Make Maximum size like 1 mb i want my avatar too look good if its for saving space keep the default res and why it changes To Gif when i uploaded a png image

i am pretty sure you Have your own reasons but come on i Don't think its that hard hope To see some Changes in the near future Thanks .

please try to think a little bit, if every member using a 1MB avatar, how much time will people spend for opening one page?

Let's see, we load 25 posts per page. 25x500KB = 12.5MB. Are you really sure you want to load 12 Megs every time a page loads?

And not to mention, bandwidth does not come free. As you probably are aware, AS runs from private funding, and does not rely on any sort of donations or advertisement. What you're asking would simply add to the load and funding without any real advantages coming from it.

Why? 150KB for 200x200 is quite plenty provided you know you're doing - and by that I mean don't use a bmp, a gif with gay amount of frames, etc. And 200x200 is quite big already; more width and it could break the postbit's designated width, too tall and your postbit would start to look bad unless you always type long posts. I didn't just put in random numbers when I decided on the limitations for size and the likes.

Most forums usually go for 100x100 or 150x150 avatar size, 200x200 is a pretty generous amount of size for an avatar, as for byte size, 150kb can still get pretty HQ with 200x200 avvys. May not be PERFECT quality, but its still pretty damn good. Look at everybody elses avvys.
Plus all the bandwidth and page load time issues previously stated would be a problem with upping the size limit of avatar images ;P

There is no real point in debating this. The avatar limits are there for good reasons (read the posts above), larger than most other forums, and will not be changed in the foreseeable future.
