Yeah, I know those are new; as I noted in the post, I was only mentioning what C79 had that the retail doesn't. Also noticed the volume differences, it's particularly audible vis-a-vis Little Busters! -Ecstacy Ver.- (Punk Dirty Channel Style).

Oh you sure? Upon actually comparing/looking C79&RETAIL waveforms, the volume difference shouldn't be that big, about 1dB. The RETAIL one i think is a bit louder. Bit is it that much louder, and which do you prefer?

Unfortunately, I deleted the RETAIL duplicates so I can't do a detailed comparison now.

The retail is louder, and imo notably so at points, by how much I can't actually confirm. I much prefer the retail over the C79 edition; I'll also note that I actually ripped this directly to separate tracks, so each of the files in this are the actual EAC rip(s). I also hope that you didn't get rid of the new My Soul, Your Beats! (Rasmus Faber Remix), as it isn't a dupe.

I kept the new MSYB Rasmus edit, and ditched the old one as it was incomplete. But I also kept the old Piano+Violin MSYB from C79. I prefer the C79 tracks where there is overlap because it's quieter by a bit, less DRC, and probably easier to undo.

It baisically involves smashing the dynamics between the loud and the soft parts so that the overall volume can be raised louder. Sometimes you can hear pumping/breathing/sudden unexpected volume changes artefacts caused by this, and when you do, it's very annoying. As a side effect, it also mangles with the frequency balance and other things. Also makes remixing harder as it's harder to see the actual waveform.

The newer the CD is, the louder it is (and hence more DRC). This is the general trend for albums, and in most cases I have found to be true. This is why I prefer older albums and their original singles rather than newer compilations.
