*EDGE never has been a studio, it is just a label (brand) of the real porn publisher KMP aka K.M.Produce, more or less it is the continuation of the ancient Friends label, the copyright of which had been bought by K.M.Produce from the former publisher Media Station just a few years ago, that is why the old Friends label title Balthus: Tia`s Radiance / バルテュス ~ティアの輝き~* has been re-released by the new *EDGE label too. They were only releasing productions of real studios under that label, just like publisher Dagdag does with it´s label Mary Jane for example. Or just like Marigold / Cottondoll / Lune Soft does with it´s labels Bunnywalker, Girls Talk, Milk Shake, Angelfish, Juicy Mango or L.

Except publisher A1C where Poro, Suzukimirano, Majin, NUR and Collaboration Works are real studios and labels at the same time. The same goes for studio Schoolzone at some point, because some titles were released under it´s own label. Sometimes special studios are dedicated to special labels, just like publisher Mediabank does with the productions of director and character designer Murakami Teruaki where they assign the label Gold Bear exclusively to him. Another example is Marigold´s label Girls Talk which was exclusively assigned to the productions of studio Schoolzone.

You should not mix up a label under which an animation is released by a publisher with the studios which created these animations. Studios are just like mercenaries, that is why you can find the productions of some studios at more than one publisher. I do not want to count all these publishers and labels where productions of studio T-Rex could be found over all these years, just as an example. Most (if not all) of the Marigold Bunnywalker label titles are studio T-Rex productions at the moment.

Normally a / publisher label (except the A1C labels) has nothing in common with the studios which produced the animations, the copyright of the animations just are sold by the studios to the publishers, that is their way to earn money.

* This (Balthus: Tia`s Radiance / バルテュス ~ティアの輝き~) is the only hentai animation where people of Studio Ghibli silently were involved in the production. Because Studio Ghibli does not stand for hentai animations at all the Ghibli Studio boss Miyazaki Hayao fired all the people who were involved in this "shameful" production once he got to know this fact. The title has been released in the U.S. by publisher Media Blasters under the Kitty Media label as part of the "Best of Kitty" series. There is no difference between the U.S. and the japanese release, because this title did not contain any censorship even in the original VHS tape / Laser Disc release in Japan, what really is a rare fact.



in short: studios are the guys producing the animations and selling them to the publishers, publishers are the guys selling them to the public by releasing them using one of their labels. The two covers above still are from one and the same animation by the same studio, they show two different labels (Friends and *EDGE) though and are from two different publishers. Means the label and perhaps the publisher can change, there even are examples where titles have been changed, but the studio never does, it is always the same.

Something about the La Blue Girl / Injuu Gakuen La Blue Girl / 淫獣学園 La Blue Girl mysteries...

La Blue Girl has 4 episodes only, not 6, what appears to be eps. 5 and 6 in the Anime18 US release are the 3 episodes (1 normal and 2 half episodes) of Shin Injuu Gakuen La Blue Girl / 真 淫獣学園 La Blue Girl in the original japanese releases. Anime18 (publisher Central Park Media) put ep. 1 of Shin La Blue Girl into ep. 5 of La Blue Girl and the two half epsiodes of Shin La Blue Girl ep. 2 into ep. 6 of La Blue Girl, that is why ep. 6 of the US release is longer than the other 5. Means that instead of the 3 series La Blue Girl, Lady Blue and La Blue Girl Returns there originally is a forth one with Shin La Blue Girl.

11 scenes of the US release of La Blue Girl and 2 scenes of the US version of Lady Blue have been cut due to sexual conduct with shota Nin-nin. One school scene of La Blue Girl ep. 6 / Shin La Blue Girl ep. 2 even is missing completely, in the US and even in the japanese release too, maybe due to the somehow yaoi content*, here it is:



* the scene ends with a disappearing Midou Miko and the dick of one of the 3 guys sliding into another guy´s ass by coincidence..
