Because no one cares about the US American seasons for anime outside of the USA. It follows the 'seasons' in Japan, where it is counted as one continuous series. Just add up the numbers and you should find the equivalent episodes:

'Season' One: 01 - 48
'Season' Two: 49 - 96
'Season' Three: 97+

No no, XBMC, it's a media UI for computers, similar to WMC but less horrible, it uses thetvdb for scraping, thus I need to properly name my folders by their listings and name the files with the "right" season and episode for it to get properly listed, and I've already "fixed" the naming, was just curious as to why thetvdb didn't list it as one season, and those are actually the japanese air dates etc, also has the japanese name of shows that don't have an english one etc, as opposed to IMDb or similar.

FairyTail is simulcasted by CrunchyRoll - this means it is streamed in the US the same day it is aired in Japan and air dates are identical. Would be interesting to see how it handles things where the air dates differ some - whether it goes by the original air date (like IMDB) or just the American one.

Anyway, my guess is that either thetvdb follows the US American season divisions, or automatically creates a season for every passed year.
Anyway, I usually follow the AniDB listing for seasons, since those are closer to the Japanese divisions (with some rare exceptions - can think of one in the one thousand plus things I uploaded).
