SUMMARY

The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher's Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

I think they used the R1 DVDs, but since I'm not part of AHQ and don't really pay attention to the source (I only care for what looks better, not where it comes from), I can't say for sure.

Color reproduction has been added to the AHQ version. If you pull up the E-D thread, and compare the screenshots to this one, you'll see what I mean in about every image. I decided to stick with the E-D version because it offered better audio quality, but for nearly double the size...

I like the E-D version better as the coloring filter AHQ used makes some screens seem "off". There's also the issue of banding in some AHQ scenes.
Overall, I would have to say the E-D version is of higher quality - but it comes at the cost of highly increased bitrate.

Is there a reason I don't really "see" the increased bitrate? Do I need better speakers to really notice the difference? I only knew they were better because of the bitrate, etc.

I was mostly referring to the increased bitrate for the video stream - while the different audio adds 240kbps, the video adds 450kbps.

Oh, and if you have a 5.1 system you will clearly hear the difference between AHQ's stereo and E-D's surround sound. Otherwise it's not going to change much.
